This looks like a real fun drive, I'd love to go... but, are there ever any events like this that do not start so early on a weekend day? I won't even bother to RSVP for this one, because I already know when the clock goes off that day, I'll blow it off. This is only the second one I've seen since I joined recently, but in both events it seems there was sort of a push to make it someplace to have lunch, thus requiring a 7am wake-up call, lol. Maybe its just a coincidence, but it looks like a trend. I work from home full-time, so I'm simply on a natural schedule my body wants to be on... and thats staying up until 3am most days...

MINI11,

I really don't know how to answer this........there have been many, many rides that have started @ 7 am or 8 am. I'm not so much a morning person myself but I have gotten up at 4:30 am so that I could wash & dry my MINI, and take a shower so that I could be at the meet up place on time (sometimes driving 45 min to an hour just to get there)......knowing that once we hit the road & some twisties it was all worth it.

The past 3 rides that I have planned the meet up time was 10 am, which was enough time for some MINI's from Colorado Springs to come up & join in the fun.

The starting point is not too far from Evergreen, you really should re-consider coming on the drive......lots & lots of fun twisty roads not to mention one of my personal favorites. If you never come on a ride then I guess you don't know what your missing.

Anyone is welcome to plan a ride or event, just post it and if you want it to be in the newletter just email the Secretary and she will make sure that it's included.

Hope to see you on the 22nd

Jamie

I'll be returning from AMVIV so I'll be missing this run.

Yes, anyone can plan a ride and being a club member, it is encouraged to become involved and do so ... MINI11, how about a night-owl run? Rides may be sent to me at secretary@mini5280.org to be included in the newsletter which I send out on the 1st day of the month.

....And that is going to be a FUUUUUN road into the Poudre Canyon!

Thanks for the response. Theres one thing for sure, I'll never wake up at 430 in the morning to wash a car, lol. Most of you are more hardcore than I am I think.

I'll see what the weather is like right before the 22nd for starters, and then also see what work stuff looks like. Being a part owner of a small company and working from home, I make my own schedule (basically work when it suits me), so I'll see what workload looks like and if I'm doing anything with it over that weekend. I know for the last drive that started at Sonic, I had worked until like 230-3 in the morning the night before because I played hookie all day.

If all goes well, we and/or I will try for this one. I stop at this Starbucks almost every trip up and back from WP.

Now to see if I have to drive it solo can I steal the CM.

Nice route through Estes and Masonville, some really nice twisties.

Btw, still out on the farm in MO. Just killing some data bits.

A night owl run would good too. A few years ago, we did regular "MADMEN" rides at night, of course. If you went with us you have the pin. Anybody feel like doing a MADMEN run this summer? We usually choose a full moon night, even a week night.

I always plan my rides to start at 6:00 AM. Lucky we got Jamie doing rides now.
MAD would be fun this summer.

Jamie you know I would normally be there, if for no reason other than taking pic's at the start point like last time. But, that is about the only weekend I have totally open to install the new supercharger. Its on Sunday so maby, just maby if I work all night Friday, I can finish it up Saturday, and still make it. There is a slim chance of that happening I've been known to do stuff like that before, and as long as I take it easy it would be a good break in for the SprinteX.

Dont hold me to it but I might be there.

MINI11, Realy? What start time would work for you... is 6:00 PM good for you? That would mean geting back around MIDNIGHT the way we do runs, at that point you are not only pothole dodging the forest critters are also out on the roads (more so than in the middle of the night) I dont think any of us really want to run the risk of coming around a dark corner and taking out Bambi! Though they taste wonderful, it is quite expensive when you hit a deer. I'm sure that if you set a ride up there would be people that show up (myself included) but if you want to make any of our normal rides, your gona need to go to sleep at a decent hour, and wake up instead of ignoring your alarm. 10:00am is kinda late for us normal folks who work normal hours, its just a fact of life.
No hard feelings, Rick

As I said, I was just curious. How would I find out if there were ever any later runs unless I asked? For the record, this run starts at 9, not 10. Even when I used to work a "regular job" and didn't make my own hours, being anywhere on a Sunday morning at 9am was simply not desirable, lol. I guess I'm a night owl and in the minority here and simply won't attend these early runs is all, no big loss. 6pm is taking it to extremes to make your point, don't you think?

PS - I don't want to hijack this thread any more. I asked a simple question out of curiosity and got a couple of answers. Not sure why this needs to be beaten to death. I had already shrugged off and forgotten about this run until I saw the thread subscription light up again. I'll just unsub it now so I'm not a contributor to this anymore.

Have fun everyone, looks like a cool run. I love Estes Park.

Don't get all fluffed-up. Just some good natured funnin. I happen to be an early morning person and I can't see too well at dusk. Some are more mid-morning and afternoon - its all good. There is enough variety in our membership that you'll find ride buddies no matter the time of day. The important thing is that you get involved and enjoy your MINI, make some new friends and find some great roads.

Check the newsletter and Teena's newsletter posts, they list all the known rides.

I was planning to go to this drive, but after 4 days of Running the Hills in SD, with some 1,400 miles logged, I need to recuperate. The twisty roads in the vicinity of Mt. Rushmore and Custer State Park did me in.
