High output Alternator

Has anyone upgraded their alternator to a 140 amp or higher alternator in their MCS?

You?

I'm thinking of something like that to supply power to my audio set up... you find anything?

I found a guy in Cali that will rebuild your alt to a 150 amp unit for cheap. There is also a local shop that would do it for really cheap if they can find the high amp kit for the Nipon alt.

You know what the draw on Horse Power would be? I hear it steals a few to generate more power. My frigging sound system's amp pulls some.. just enough to **** me off. I feel it in the power steering and the throttle. Maybe I should turn the volume down.

NO, KEEP IT LOUD!!! The place local is the Generator Exchange Co Inc. (303) 433-1042. Address: 2650 W 44th Ave, Denver, CO 80211. Check with them, they also do fast turnaround too, at least that is what they told me.

The downside with this, is it is not the MINI alt, it is one to fit any vehicle. That makes me nervous. The Cali guy told me he would put all the new stuff in and rewind the alt by hand.

PS. I would give the local guys at Generator Exchange a howler. Their prices were a ton cheaper and local. Their number is 303-433-1042

Did you have to upgrade your positive power cable to a thicker gauge cable. From the alt to the rear of the car battery? Did you add an additional fuse?
