Swank's new mini project Westminster style.
Swank's new mini project Westminster style.
LOL I live lived here in the Denver area for about 3 years but only lived in Westminster since Aug. so I'm still not sure what I meant by Westminster style.
Anyways I got my car last Sat and have already put 300+ miles on it in 4 days. For some reason when you own a mini the Ross store at I25 and 144th seems to the the one to drive to when you live off 68th and Sheridan. LOL
I am starting this cars journey off with new shift and ebrake leather since my ebrake leather is tore. Currently on order from ebay/england.
I also have a new JVC KDr-900 CD player on order as well as a shop kit of second skin sound dampening material. Next to order is my RCA cables, power cable and accessories, speaker wire, and few other misc install items I need. I am going to go with a Alpine 5 channel amp, Focal graphite door speakers, focal 6"x9" rear speakers, and my used Alpine type S sub I have in a sealed false floor box. I'm going to do a fiberglass bottom box with intigrated amp rack all under a pergo wood floor behind the seat. The door speakers will all be stealthed and it all should be pretty low key. The mini spends its down time parked in the garage so I will be able to sleep a little better knowing its not on the street at night.
I am going to go get some before pics of the car as it sit right now and post them. Then I will take pics as I go along with the seat, carpet, door, and panel tear down for sound deadening and wiring. Once I get going on this I will of course welcome visitors/helping hands over to watch or participate on the build.
Stay tuned.

Time for a little update.
I got my windows tinted 20% on all but the windshield. My ebrake leater was tore so I ordered new leather for the shift boot and ebrake handle off ebay and put them on this week. They are much better than what I had.
I got my stereo working this week but it's not done yet I still need to finish the trim for the sub box and amp rack. I ended up using the Alpine Type S 12" sub I had, a alpine PDX-5 5 channel amp, JVC KD-R900 CD player that matches to dash colors flawlessly, and Focal V165R door speakers. For now I don't have the rear speakers hooked to the amp but I am considering it or I am considering Focal 6"x9" speakers then hooking them up. I used about 60 square feet of Second Skin Damplifier pro product on the car so far and I still have not touched the hatch or the roof areas. I ordered the M7 strut bar and stubby antenna last week. Today I just ordered door panel hole plugs, the steeringwheel center insert, and a chrome ebrake handle.

Hey mile high people. I'm wanting to chip and pulley the mini but don't know which pulley to get. I am thinking the 19% because were in Colorado and I don't take the car to sea level hardly ever. I will only run premium in it the way it is. I know we have less o2 up here so I figured if most people can run 17% at sealevel with no bigger injectors I could do 19% up here with stock injectors.
Jumping in here - We run a 15% because that is what was on the girl when we bought her - my build is in my sig - but if I did it again I would run a 17%
Actually I am waitting for the green light from the wife to pull the drive train and stroke it

So tuned vs chipped from GIAC? Who locally dyno tunes these? What is the estimated cost of a tune?

15% pulley here also, was recomended and done by Randy Webb.
Hippie, are you doing a new head and cam with that stroker motor?
...may need to talk.

Here is a link to the GIAC people. They do lots of chip tuning in the VW and Audi market.

and here is a link to an older thread about GIAC: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...c-upgrade.html
you probably have already seen this, looks good though.

That is some great info. I'm now on the fence between 15% and 17% yea I know there is a 16% out there also.
I'm leaning toward 15% with the GIAC chip and DIY mod to my airbox. I think it will be a while before I upgrade my exhaust.

Very good information in those threads and website.
@Swank, how about a 15% and CAI and a remote tune from RMW.
Another option for a tune would be Wayland of WMS if he comes to MITM in August.

Good info so far on the chip tuning. Someone have a link to RMW? Do you have to remove your ecu and send it to them or what? Is it that much better or cheaper than the GIAC. What if the car goes in for service and they reflash to stock do I have to send the ECU back again instead of going back to my GIAC local dealer?
BTW today I received my M7 order. I got my strut bar and stubby antenna. Both are now installed. I just used the 2x4 and big ball pein hammer to adjust my strut towers to flat again and it went right on. I like it. I have not driven it much but home to see how it does tomorrow.

RMW has a remote tune device, so the dealer problem is solved. RMW does tuning around the country or you can go the remote tune. You buy a tune and the flash unit, tune can be a generic or prepped to the modifications you have on your MINI. You do not pull your ECU, it is modified via the OBD port.

Revolution mini works lists lots of internal parts but no tuning? Do I just have to call them? This already doesn't sound easy enough to deal with for my money. It's the internet age and if a online vendor cannot use it right I struggle giving them my $. LOL
I'm mostly kidding here but there is a point to be made.
