2009 Castle 2 Castle Run - July 19th
As now has become a MINI5280 tradition - Mike Gleason has once again provided us with a royal MINI motoring opportunity:
MINI5280 Castle to Castle Run
This year we will begin the day in Castle Rock meeting at the local I-Hop for breakfast at 7:00 AM
International House of Pancakes
575 Genoa Way
Castle Rock, CO
Get Directions
Then at 8:00AM fully fueled and fueled fully we will head south on I-25 to Colorado City.
Turning west we will make our way to Bishop's Castle for some exploring, political education and a brown bag lunch picnic.
Assuming no one has been captured and/or killed we will then drive northish through some excellent Colorado country side and conclude our three castle day at the home of Herman Beeh. Herman will be roasting us some beast and there is the possibility of some bag pipes and sword fighting.
So make your plans to attend this year's Castle2Castle(2 Castle) and sign-up on the club calendar here: Castle2Castle

Can't make the entire ride?
If you feel the entire day is just too much,
Consider meeting the group at our last stop, Burge Mary Castle in Woodland Park. Hermann & Mary Beeh (aka: MINIBEEH on NAM) invite all to participate in their "Open Castle". The group should arrive there mid afternoon.
An entire meal will be prepared for all in the Castle open fire pit & recently completed kitchen. Food provided by mini5280, so come hungry! Bring an umbrella chair & an appetite.
The Beeh's are considering placing a sign out front, "DO DROP IN". They love to have visitors, especially those that drive Mini Coopers! Let me know for head count on food.
Beeh there!

We need to close this event to any new sign-up on Thursday. That way we can get the food count correct and get it purchased.
So if you want to go get on the calendar!

If you are a CS MINI and choose not to join us for breakfast in Castle Rock. We will make an even so brief stop at the scenic overlook just north of the Springs between mile markers 153 and 152 on south bound I-25.
We would love to have you join us at the I-Hop in Castle Rock, but if not look for us around 8:30 AM. Like I said this will be a very brief stop just to collect more MINIs and/or minis. Then onward to Bishop's Castle.

At the beginning of the post it says to bring a brown bag lunch, but then we are supposed to end with the meal at Burge Mary Castle. Do we just need snacks for in between or what?

Some will meet at I-hop in Castle Rock for breakfast
All will ride to Bishop's Castle where we will have an early lunch (snack?) There is a suggested cash donation of $10.00 per (Vehicle).
Then the twisty route to Hermann's Burg Mary Castle will take some time but is what we are all about.....(getting our cars twisted). I hope to get us there by 3:00P but no later that 4:00P. The Beehs are anxious to have people come, stay a while & enjoy themselves, not have to rush off.
Hermann & Mary Beeh will have food prepared for us when we get there. Brats & Dogs, German Potatoe Salad, Baked Beans, Deserts.
The neighbors are looking forward to having us as well. The Bag-Piper has been practicing. I am not sure about any sword fighting.

Bad news - Ralph Schomp is keeping our Clubbie to replace the window modules or something...so we won't be driving ours
But we do have a nice BRG/S Clubbie for the weekend!
See everyone for breakfast tomorrow morning!

My pleasure Jamie.
Wife and I had a great time. Thanks Mike for putting this all together. Can't wait to read about it in the newsletter.
Post your pictures so we can find some for the newsletter.
Sorry I had to cut out early.

I have some video with the Hero system, but I am breaking up the video to post. I also need the permission from Bryan (Miniconcarne) and David Moulton, since you see a lot of their boots, to post as public on Youtube. And Bryan has signed off,on the first 3, so here they are. The horses are in the 3rd video.

Nobody wants to talk about the horses, the tire bummer, Florence potty break, the few who had "detours"?
Cookout and hospitality at the Beeh's Castle was fantastic. Never had a bag piper pipe his bag
for an event I was a part of!
Construction of Herman's castle was impressive, Bishop's was frightning but impressive none the less.
My power steering held up and was able to get home safely by dark!

Thanks Mike!!! I had a great time & so did my sister. 388 miles...13 1/2 hours. Here are a couple of pictures of the horses, that was kinda scary.
