The SPA Who Loved Me 05.02.09

Here we go:
  • The SPA Who Loved Me (Thanks, Teena)
  • Saturday, May 2, 2009
  • Meetup, 8 am at Starbucks in Golden, 1701 Jackson (17th and Jackson)
  • Ride leaves 8:30 am
  • Route via Golden > CO6 to Bergen Park, The Western Dragon (Squaw Pass Rd) > Chicago Canyon > Idaho Springs
  • SPA Time at the Indian Hot Springs in Idaho Springs (est 10:30 am)
  • Lunch at TommyKnockers Brewery in Idaho Springs about Noon
  • Then Route home via Black Hawk and Golden, CO.
  • Return time estimated at 3 pm or sooner.
For those who cannot make the SPA time, or for those who are afraid of hot mineral waters, then just meet us at the TommyKnocker around Noon or so.

In order to have SPA time, you MUST RSVP in advance to the www.IndianHotSprings.com or call 303-989-6666 to make your RSVP for 10:30 am or so. You can have your choice of:
  • Geo-Thermal Cave Baths in hot mineral water
  • Outdoor Jacuzzi Baths in hot mineral water (6 pp per tub)
  • Mineral Water Swimming Pool, indoors under a dome. Suitable for chillen
  • Indoor Private Baths for families and couples (private)
  • Spa Services such as massage and facials and salt glo's and body wraps and tanning beds
  • Club Mud with mineral rich clay with which to detoxify. Facial or full body
  • For your reservations you must call 303-989-6666 in advance and some services fill up faster than others.
  • Please POST when you have RSVP'd so that others know what you will be doing.
This is a fun event for those who like to SPA and fun even for those who do not. At the very least, you can enjoy the warm pool for an hour or two.

Bump for this event - next month is not that far away so sign-up for your spa treatments and post to tell us what you're doing.

Spas will actually pay me not to come and disrobe. Of course last time I did it was in their parking lot, but that's a long story.
So I'm with you Don - up the hill to eat then back to town.

I'm ready for two things - winter to go away and a MINI ride.
Only three have signed-up on the calendar (one more then necessary for a MINI5280 group ride designation) but I'm sure there are others.
Who else is on for this weekend?

If I'm the only one...

Who plans to take advantage of the Spa treatment, I'll just skip it and have lunch with the rest of you.

Club Mud anyone?

Jenn is working this Saturday until ~2pm but I don't think I could do the spa, as it would scare the children. Since the wife is busy, it leaves me to either sleep in or go motor...

I'm in!

Everyone drive up their own route in the AM, eat lunch with a bunch of "I would have spa'd, but will not expose myself to the laughter" folks.

Then motor down the hill via the Western Dragon or this groups twisties of choice?

OK?

Don

We are in.... again

I am not saying I look good in speedo... Only "Jsouz" has earned that rep. Heck, he even looks hot with a plumber's crack. But we will be doing the private hot tub. Reservation already made.

Is there a perhaps a little side trip for those of us who fear the mud on Saturday? Just a quick hour and half drive (ie - Berthoud Pass maybe)?

I confirmed our arrangements today

and they are not that busy this weekend according to Brian. You actually do not have to make reservations for the pool or mud or stuff, other than the 'Private' rooms of which there are limited numbers.

Whatever the case, this will be fun. Please POST if you are joining. See POST #1 for full details....

See you at 8 am in Golden. Call me if needed 303-807-9483

Jonathan

It sounds like Idaho Springs is going to see some snow tomorrow - so wear your boots!

Perhaps it was the naughty bits I waved in front of Mother Nature's face.
Note to self: Stop taunting M.N.

So, is there a plan to meet at for lunch then motor back on the route selected?

What time are the lunch folks motoring up, anything formal?

How do you think my Dunlop RFs will do in light snow?

What I recommend is that

the non-early folks motor on up and meetup with us at the SPA. It is just across the highway, turn by the police station (Miner St) and go EAST on Soda Creek. The SPA is on your left just under the highway.

Meet us there, we can go to lunch together. As an alternative, arrive lunch at TommyKnocker early, and save some tables.

Thanks,

JPS

I'm planning on meeting up at Starbucks at 8:00 and heading up with everyone else. I will have a passenger or two. We'll probably stroll the streets and then head to TK for lunch.
I have my summers on as well so as long as it is wet I'm good. Ice and I'm done.

I checked with Al Sleet

the Hippy Dippy Weatherman. Here is his forecast for Idaho Springs and vicinity: (Que Pasa Man??)

At 5:30, "continued dark tonite, with widely scattered light towards morning." He continued "The weather will continue to change for a long, long time..."

There you go. And as Al would say, "If you don't like the weather, move."

Well that was great fun. It was actually warmer in Idaho Springs then here in Denver, and the sun came out on several occasions.
Thanks to Jonathan for organizing the ride and picking the theme.
Don't forget to post your photos.
