Tensioner tool?

I am planning on doing some maintenance on my Mini this weekend and I was wondering if anyone has a tensioner tool I could borrow? I know I should have planned ahead a bit but I honestly forgot about it. Thanks!

This one is on my to "build list", I have a drawing of one (got it on NAM) but have yet to fab any. I remember intercoolest (Mike) saying you are connected with Manufacturing in someway? I can send the link for the sketch if you like.

How is the shift **** working for you?

Alternative method / tool

The tensioner tool would be great but since I never plan in advance either......

I have used a large Craftsman Screw Driver that has a square shank. It works great to release the belt tensioner but takes boths hands to assure it doesn't slip. Then a 2nd person is required to pin the rod for holding open in loose belt position.

A spouse can be used as the required 2nd person but expect her to ask you if you are sure you know what you're doing... Avoid any sarcastic response if that happens, as you will need her help again later releasing the tensioner when finished.

Standing on both feet, facing the car at 45 degrees, slight lean to your left & gritting your teeth helps. Personally, I bite my tongue instead. Doing so allows me to say words that can't be understood by my wife.

Or plan in advance & have the proper tools on hand.

Sure I would like to see what you have.

The **** is working out great, I love it and have received compliments on it. The material is nice too, it doesn't scald and freeze my hands like the aftermarket metal designs used to.

Glad you like the ****. A few people have said the same about the freezing/scalding non-issue.

Here is the info: post#16 https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...oner-tool.html there is a discrepancy with his drawing vs. his text (34mm on center or 35mm?) wasn't too worried, I was going to make a test piece to verify.
