Northern Colorado MINIs

We are planning a monthly meeting for a Northern Colorado Mini group. We will meet in Ft. Collins at Tortilla Marissa’s on South College Ave. just south of Drake at 7:03pm every 3rd Tuesday evening. Park across the street in the Sutherland (CiCi’s Pizza) parking lot. This is very informal, come and join us! We’re trying to get all us Northern Colorado Mini owners connected. See you there!
For now check the “North American Motoring” website, click on regional forums then “Mini 5280” for updates.

Live in Longmont, work in Loveland....can we rotate with a Loveland location, too? I'd love to go!

Does this mean us Southerners aren't invited to play?

and don't forget we do have a MINI5280 meeting next Tuesday (1/13/08) at Pints Pub in Denver. We are even giving away door prizes so come if you can. Just head south on I-25 till you see some really tall buildings.

Southerners are welcome, please come! The idea is to eventually rotate the locale of the meeting if we have enough people to make it worth while. For now we'll meet at Tortilla Marissa's in Fort Collins America...then maybe Loveland, Windsor, etc.
MiniMaybee, it's just so inconvienient to travel to Denver from the frozen North after working all day (yea, I know.."you want some cheese with that whine?")

... and against traffic even. Not saying anything but one of the only members that makes each meeting is Mike - from Colorado Springs! He makes more of them then I do. This is one of the reasons we will be offering prizes at the next meeting; a little incentive to drive your MINI to the meeting (as if people should need an incentive to drive their MINI).
Nothing to say we can't have a MINI5280 meeting up there though. All we need is space for 30 or so, quiet enough where people can hear, accessible for those members with disabilities and food/beer is a nice feature.
Got any place in mind that fits the bill?

Interesting comments here. I would think that by now there would be enough Minis in Colorado Springs and the Ft. Collins area to form new clubs in those cities. It's just too far to drive to downtown Denver for a meeting after work. Also, not a good idea to drink beer and drive I-25 North or South. Good luck to the North Mini club.

Pete,
Maybe we should invent a Mini bus to take the MAXimum # of people to or from events and travel all over the state...ah but that doesn't allow us to fly our Minis. I see a lot of Minis in the North Forty but usually they are going in the opposite direction than I am and I'm usually running to a meeting so I can't turn around and chase them down. I eventually tag 'em all, they can't hide from me....! Chuck, we've got a few places to meet that will hold 30 or more w/ libation and grub, Rio Grande, Cannino's, any bar would be glad to have 30 people douse themselves to oblivion in a corner.

Well as Pete suggests we usually have only a few to help lubricate the meeting. The trick to finding a place is to find one that has a separate area for the group and does not have a pounding beat or blaring TVs. It is actually much more difficult then it may seem. If it sounds like we have had meetings in less then ideal locations, we have. Too small, too loud or too open and the club business can not be done effectively.

i remember the first meeting i went to was at the cheshire cat in arvada....it was really good, quite perfect space, maybe not the best location being up north but good none the less...IMO i think that when the club finds a good spot we should try to keep it somewhat in the same location. for new members and things like that keeping the consistency would be good....just my thought.

Many folks liked the Cheshire Cat. It was sold and closed last year in June, but it *may* now be opened as "Yak & Yeti," with the brewpub aspect intact. We should scout it out. See http://www.catsbrew.com

Mabe we should break out

some of those old 'Northern Colorado MINI Motoring' and 'Southern Colorado MINI Motoring' cards that I have so many of. Rick, we still have the graphic so why not? Sub-Clubs! Maybe they can pick a date for a regular meeting, like the 2nd Tuesday, and then everyone reports in.

Colorado Springs, ya listening???

Don't worry, Don, you didn't miss much. It was only RUDEBOX (Longmont) and danandtan (Loveland) that showed up.

Waited til about 7:30 (meeting time was 7:03) and then left for dinner to the new "Serious Texas BBQ" in north Loveland off 287. I vote for this as the next "Northern MINI meeting." It was very spacious, had lots of parking and GREAT BBQ...plus a more convenient location. I can make flyers, post it and everyone can print and distribute to MINIs in the area.

Thoughts?

Boy did I screw up!
I've had it on my calendar as the 27th, not the 21st.
I don't know why but that's what happened and I'll be there the 27th.

I've been handing out flyers that said the 3rd Tuesday thinking it was the 27th.
I'm sure it was an Outlook screw-up certainly not mine (right! )

The various people I verbally told about it I told them the 27th. So I'll be there next Tuesday and then the 3rd Tuesday of each month after (a mind is a terrible thing).

I'm sorry that you guys showed up and No one else was there, that's what I experienced with the Loveland European auto meetings, I didn't want it to happen for the first meeting in the unfrozen North.

So I and every body else can coordinate calendars it's: Feb. 17, March 17th is spring break in Fort Collins America so, I won't be around, but if people want a mtg. then good or we can schedule it March 24th, then April 21st, May 19th, June 21st, July 18th, August 18th, Sept. 15th, Oct. 20th, Nov. 17th, Dec. 15th.

Well, we had fun regardless... had some good BBQ too. I'll be playing next week by ear. Usually on the 4th Tuesday of the month I'm busy with my knitting club.
