James Norton=13px , 03-22-2020 11:18 PM"Are you sure it has tpms? I know with 1st gens minis they dont. They use wheel speed sensors to detect a flat"
Mine Is an 04 and has tpms...
They run off the abs sensor before that for the TPMS.
No TPMS inboard on each wheel or a system that responds with it, unless someone had the sensor on MINI wheels from another newer MINI and threw them on.

I had new tires put on and I clearly saw tpms sensors in the wheels..I also put my friends xlites off his r56 which dont have tpms in them and my car threw the light for them . I could not turn it off or reset in in anyway , once we put my rpFAKE1's back on the light was off once I reset it again..
it also came on once this winter and my psi in them dropped and I filled them back up and it went off.
I was on the market for different rims and tires but the tpms had stopped me from doing so as they are expensive. I was hoping there was an aftermarket option available .
100% Gen 1 no TPMS inboard tire sensor, unless you are the very late model R52s
I think people swap wheels from newer MINIs to older and just leave them in their when they get new tires, Then it does nothing. On early ~7/2008 R56s is when it started, so very early R56 dont have them either, they use the wheel speed sensor.

I'm kinda confused now as mine is for sure an 04 as I ran the vin but I'm positive it has tpms
Mine is an 04 and has this same reset procedure but I have the dual gauge on the steering wheel and a navigation unit so my tpms warning light in on them .

You have a TPMS, it reads the wheel speed sensors. The TPMS ~2008+ has a unit the reads the inboard sensors on the wheel stem mounted on the wheel.

if I do need tpms what are the cheapest ones available because it wont be worth it to remove my old ones .
No sensors in the wheels for Gen 1, except very late R52’s apparently. They use the wheel speed sensors as posted. Set all tires to the proper inflation and reset the monitor. If a wheel gets low from a leak the diameter will be smaller and will spin faster than the others. The wheel speed sensor detects this difference and throws the light.
Unfortunately, it will also not throw a light if all of the wheels deflate at the same rate and there’s no difference in rotational speed, like if a car is stored for a long time and all of the tires are under inflated at about the same pressure.

So look at the oem wheel you have on it , does it have a rubber valve stem or a all metal valve stem on it? Looks like 9/2007+ production for the late R52s. So if yes on the metal stem then you will need these: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-huf-part...36236798726kt/
