This was used once on my 2006 MCS auto Cabrio. Forgot I had it until I started going through Mini stuff as I prepare to sell my 2015 JCW 2-door F56. I expect shipping will be inexpensive. Do you know if it had to be unmarried first? it may be useless.

 

If you used this on your car you cannot use it on any other car.

 

Addressing the foregoing concerns, I can only speak to what I was informed by the technician who handled it, as I am neither a mechanic, nor technologically savvy enough to know, but understood it was returned to virgin state after it was used once and is reprogrammable. Seems there are plenty of places on the internet that state it is reprogrammable, but leave that to those interested to research and satisfy themselves.

 

You can but the person (tuner) that it is registered to has to reset it. Jan will charge you 150.00 to do that and at that point you are almost the cost of a new one. You can always IM DimSport and see what they will do for you. I had to do that after my laptop wouldn't communicate with it when I got it back.

 

Thanks for that input! I did obtain it through Jan, but, as indicated, I thought it was already reset. The problem is, this would have been years ago, when I still had my Gen 1, so the rear view is not as clear as it once was and cannot rightfully dismiss the issue and cannot certify the condition as virgin. I suppose the best I could do is drop the price to make it more attractive to anyone wishing to either gamble, or send it to Jan to certify it, etc., but I'll also contact DimSport as well. I've contacted DimSport, based on suggestions here. in the meantime, I've also decided to drop the price; cut in half to $50!

 

If they come back and say it can be used on another car then I will buy it

 

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, I have to reply to their email, which says to supply them with the identifying number on the box of the dealer from whom I obtained it.

 

Learned this needs a reset. Contacted the original dealer and was informed they want $150 to clear it for reuse and update the software. Really?

So, at $50 this will come to $200 to get it with updated software, making it like new. Frankly, I'm not spending the $150 to make it an ask of $200, but anyone want to acquire it and update it is welcome. Asking $50, but will consider offers under the circumstances.

So, Jan confirmed this can be made fresh and updated for $150. This unit has been used ONCE and Jan programmed it that one time.

For my ask, plus Jan's programming fee it will be way less than NEW, but just as good as NEW. Don't wait.

WOW! Only have a few items left to sell off. This is one of them and probably the best deal of all. Read whole thread to learn it does need a reprogramming, but even with that additional cost, this is way under the cost of a new one and every bit as good as new.

My tune was great. Car's performance was greatly improved.

 

Every 1st Gen benefits from a custom tune.

 

Anyone buying one new for over $300 is crazy not to get this and pay the reprogramming fee and save over $100.
