Anyone interested in jcw head from 2005 jcw engine with 80k miles? Head is complete accept the valve cover, that I’ve swapped to my new engine. Only the head, no injectors etc.
Willing to listen to any offers or questions and can do more pics to any serious requests.
Thanks

Interesting that the motor has 330cc (beige) injectors in a 2005 MINI, I thought by that time they were installing the 210 kit with the 380cc (blue) injectors.

jcw engine is on the right, I’ve swapped the valve cover between the engines.

Ah I see now, you are not moving the Head to you 'new' motor?

As far in as you are now its not hard, turn the motor to TDC, zip tie the timing chain, unbolt following the Bentley book, new head bolts and gasket - reverse the process. I would say if you do it go ahead and get the Head stud kit.

Is there really THAT much performance difference between the MCS and JCW heads? As far as I know the valves are just a tad bigger aren’t they? Wouldn’t you gain much more power by throwing a cam in there? I’m looking at getting a new head and build the bottom end but gotta save up for it

The power increase of the JCW over the S is from a combination of 1.) Approximate 12% smaller pulley, 2.) 380 over 300 Injectors, 3.) A larger inlet airbox in later years, 4.) An ECU Tune, and 5.) The Head ports are worked. The Head is the same casting as the S and MINI has now revised, according to RealOEM, both the intake and exhaust valves to be the same part number from R50 to the 52/53 JCW. The cams have always been the same across the Gen1 models. The JCW has teflon coated supercharger blades, something the S was upgraded to in 2005.

Some where there is a post from Jan at RMW that the S head flowed approximately 108 CFM and the JCW head about 120 CFM.

Some minor reshaping/enlargement of the ports can achieve some good performance. The JCW head is an example of this.

Yes, I'm interested.
That said, I really don't have much to go by for a price to offer.
I'm well versed in various American car head costs (a few bike and couple of offshore heads), but not these.
I'd like to get a head to learn what the head can do as far as porting with my experience, sort of an outsiders point of view. Maybe a little out of the box thinking so to speak.

So I don't insult you, please give me something to go by, we'll go from there.

Mike
