UPDATE #3 SALE PENDING - will update if buyer flakes!
UPDATE #2: I've settled on $4,000 AS-IS. Local buyer is encouraged. I'm getting several offers from out of state and I just don't see how that's worth it.
UPDATE: From Mini of SF: The spring is broken in cylinder number three which has allowed it to freeze. There are also impact marks on the top of the valve which means before the spring broke, or at least when it broke, the two collided into each other.
So my beloved 2011 Mini Cooper S engine blew. Really sad. Heartbroken. Mini of San Francisco diagnosed it with 0 compression cylinder three. 40k miles. ONLY 40k freaking miles! Excellent condition – I babied my Mini. How did this happen? Well, I’m still trying to figure that part out, but Mini of SF believes it could be due to a previous tune. This was surprising to learn as I never once had it tuned. NEVER. I suppose it’s possible the previous owner did. I will have more details after I return from vacation and get Mini of SF’s official report.
What I do know is I cannot afford the repairs or replace the engine. Even if I could, I am not sure that would make sense financially. Anyway, selling ‘as is’ is looking like my best option as I don’t have the means or space to part the Mini out. The Mini is drivable but runs like crap as you would expect a car running on three cylinders would.
And the worst part? I literally just had the JCW brake kit installed ☹ $2k later and the engine dies.
I currently have one offer at $3k 'as-is'. Posting here to see if I can get a better offer. Specs below (I’m most likely forgetting something)
NM Engineering Air Charge Pipe
NM Engineering Discharge Pipe
NM Engineering Hi-Flow Induction Kit
NM Engineering Titanium Turbo Heat Shield
NM Engineering Engine Torque Arm Insert
NM Engineering RS Alpha Spring Kit (not installed)
NM Engineering Strut tower brace
JCW brake kit – JUST INSTALLED, BASICALLY BRAND NEW
Oh man what a bummer....it's not uncommon for the valve to break. There is a number of people whose cyl no. 3 and sometimes 1 would give up and break. My recent JCW had a burned valve (chipped) and luckily that was the extent of the damage. Replaced and went back on the road.
There might be folks in your area who could help you fix it. The car looks nice and had low miles. I see you have the rain sensor, what other options you have? Comfort access? Navi?
I second that, if you part it out id love to have some of those goodies. <3 Sorry about your mini
Sorry, I don't have the means to part out. Selling as a whole. I don't have a garage and live in a condominium. Thanks, though!

I listed pretty much everything. I don't think I have comfort access. I hear ya, but it might be worse than a chipped valve. Let me ask Mini exactly what the culprit is.

Hey mate really interested I a few of the items you have. I live local based San Jose. Interested in the roof rack and some of nm things you got. I'll direct msg you my number.
Hi,
I'm interested in the Mini to repair and drive, not part out. I live near Vallejo and should be able to look at it in the next few days.
Thanks,
Mike
SOLD! Sold to a fellow NAM member. He will try to revive the Mini. As sad as I am to see the car go, I believe it's going to a great home and will be well taken care of.
