Why would you trade for the AEM? It's basically the same system. The only reason I ran the AEM instead of the DDM was because it was less expensive. Either one will work with the larger M7 hood scoop.
If I still owned an R56 I would jump this at this price.
Good luck.

Ahhh, well I want to see for myself first hand. This would make for a good thread actually.

There are a few things I don’t love about the ddmworks. I’m hoping to gain a tad more clearance where the hood scoop sits.

I also like that aem provides a turbo inlet tube (I’m using a forgesilicone that actually rubs against the metal hood scoop)

The aem filter box has a full enclosure, whereas the ddm only has the top part, which screws onto the oem bottom half. The ddmworks fits fine, but not perfect.

And I like that I can use the oem brake booster line with the aem.

Has anyone ever had any issues with the plastic aem hood scoop melting or warping? I could see the benefit from the ddm bc it is metal.

Just a few things I wanna see for myself!

Gotcha. Didn't realize there were fitment issues with DDM, or the lack of the inlet tube. I never had a problem with the AEM duct being effected by heat. Only mod I had to make was to heat the passenger side front corner of the air box with a heat gun and make a dent in it to clear a BSH dual boost tap.

So its weird, i was going to buy this but then i read your ad close and saw “n14 only” so i went to their website (which this thing is like $500 on there so good deal here) and they say it will fit a 2011 r57 but also its only for n14 and mine has a n18?? So i guess it wont fit.

Yes, but only when a tech didn't reinstall the AEM heat shield after replacing the turbo oil line. Slight softening and a little sag before I noticed the shield laying in the boot a week later. ¯\_(?)_/¯

Heat shield is not optional. It does its job fine.

I can attest to that. Heat shield worked fine on my R56 for the two years I had it.

Good info, I was thinking about not even mounting the shield bc I’ve seen some posts on here about it getting so hot under there that the valve cover actually melts.

Those turbos get alarmingly hot, I didn’t think it was normal to get that hot

To repeat myself, I had the AEM on my '07 MCS for two years without a problem. I used the AEM heat shield. Intake was still on the car when I traded it two years ago. YMMV
