Anyone have a good used header in the PNW?

Category: Drivetrain
Price: $100
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part fits (you may select multiples): R50, R52, R53
Location (Region): NorthWest
Item Condition: Used

Hey guys! I'm on a 3500mi road trip on a budget up the coast, and I'm taking a few rest days in Portland. I pulled off of the PCH the other day over a rather...precarious curb, and in doing so, appear to have burst a hole in my header.

Anyone have a spare exhaust for a decent price? Willing to work to reduce price. I rebuilt my R53 from the cylinder head-up this summer, and I can help install aftermarket parts, help diagnose issues on your R53, redo your headliner, or photograph your car (pics for reference), etc.

Hit me up!

Good call! Ryan said he could weld mine up for $100.

I didn't. Gonna still look at my options. Someone's parting out an R53 with a Milltek system in Seattle, might give that a shot if the price is right. What kind is yours?

Thank you for the quick responses, guys. Really appreciate it.

If you are nearby Ed's Muffler in Beaverton may be another option to weld your header for very reasonable price. It is not clear where your hole is but I suspect from you recount of event it is at the undercarriage. The fine folks chain smoking there didn't charge me anything for swaging my exhaust pipes for my 1-ball mod.

If I were you I would just make a repair and get a replacement header when I get home. I would not call them to maximize the I'm poor and down and out effect...

u-weld it offer

I have a MIG welder and I would be happy to offer it to you if you are up to the challenge - assuming the hole is at a readily accessible location once you put the car on jack stands. I personally do not like the hazard of welding under the car. If you want to exercise this option please just PM me. My time is flexible.

Thanks everyone for your responses! I picked up a Milltek resonated catback and a custom-modified OEM header for $200 in Seattle off of a wrecked R53! All is well.

By the way, Ryan and Devon at Dynasport were wonderful. Didn't like the $300 install bill, but what was I supposed to do so far from home? They charged a fair hourly rate. RIP bank account, but whatever, everything worked out in the end.

You did quite OK considering the situation. What custom modification on the header?

I pulled it off of a wrecked modified R53, so I have no idea. But it appears to be an OEM header that was cut and rewelded with a different metal. I'll try to take a photo of it if I ever get a chance!

No need...just stumbled across this thread...judging by the photo, I had a Magnaflow header. Too bad I assumed my mounts were good didn't replace them with it...the damn thing just cracked... *facepalm*
