Sneed Speed has a setup. Not cheap for what you get but they claim it works.. You could make a setup pretty easy if you had the bracket that attaches to the caliber/hub..

I know who makes them i was just hoping to get around paying those insane prices by possibly getting lucky here with someone parting out a damaged track car or something to that effect

I don't know if there's a guide. But is pretty simple if you have basic skills.

The duct is 550 degrees rated. But i had that. You can use dryer duct that cost 8 in home depot.

I am just suggesting. If you want you can buy the way or Sneed kits

What if I just remove the fog lights trim a hole into the splash guards and call it good ?

The tire will block the air flow.

I would think they would get some degree of increased air flow

Hmm. Not sure that will be significant. In fact, air has to go around the tire so there's a good chance the airflow into the duct could be higher than if the duct were in the free stream. This set-up is a lot more simple than going through the fog light holes. Plus, the air has a more direct route and less travel time through the hose. I have a Porsche GT4 and the rear brake ducts are like this.

Trying to figure out what to do on my R53. I really like that mod to the inside rotor cover to put a hose mount.

I know it doesn't help the thread much but are there any kind of rims that take air and funnel it at the brakes ? I always thought about how beneficial a wheel could be at doing that if designed to do so.
btw, that modded dustshield for the airduct onto the brakes is a awesome job !

Agree...I must conclude that the air flow/turbulence at the wheel makes any attempt at pushing air into (or out of) the disks not very effective. Surely, if it worked, someone would have done that by now!

The spokes would have to look like fan blades..! And actually stick out into the air stream and not be blocked by bodywork.

Anything on the "rims" (the outer ring !)...that would be even more difficult to accomplish.

FWIW, I did just that years ago. Used the plastic caps from detergent jugs and attached short lengths of high temp 2 inch diameter flexible tubing that go through 2 inch holes that I cut in the wheel well splash guards with a 2 inch hole saw. The tubing goes through just enough but not far enough to rub against the tires. In 14 years of HPDE events, I've never lost my brakes using the stock calipers and race pads. I bleed my brakes no further out than 2 or 3 days before an event. The trick is to use your brakes hard over the shortest distance to make the turn. I'm pretty sure there are pics here on NAM because I did a similar mod on our GP. If I can find them, I'll post a link.
Here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...s-made-ez.html The GP used 2-1/2 inch tubing, the S uses 2-inch tubing.
