USED K&N Typhoon 2005TTK intake for BASE Cooper

Category: Drivetrain
Price: $80
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part fits (you may select multiples): R56
Location (Region): NorCal
Item Condition: Used

This is one of the few kits on the market specifically designed for a Cooper (a.k.a. non-S, Justa, non-turbo). Mine was installed in September 2013 and removed in February 2014. Please refer to the link below for product specifications and vehicle application. It fits my 2011 Base perfectly, and a friend has confirmed that it does NOT fit his 2012 Base.

I am selling the kit "WITHOUT the filter." For $80, You get the air box top, two silicone couplers, one 90 degree bend pipe, 4 hose clamps, and screws. The K&N filter shows signs of wear so I'm keeping it. You are better off getting a brand new filter of your choice, as long as the size is comparable to K&N's RC-5144:

If you are located in the bay area in NorCal, drive down to Mountain View and I will install it for you. One thing to note is that if you have a strut brace installed, it may interfere with this airbox. After installing the kit, I had to search high and low for a strut brace that clears the box.

The kit sounds amazing and performs as claimed. However, I have moved onto a custom setup that I love.

K&N's RC-5144 can be as low as $55 on eBay. I would get that one to make a perfect fit for the kit. Otherwise it will take some digging around to find a similarly sized filter for less than that. The interior diameter of the flange has to be 2.75", and the length has to be under 7.875".

In the alternative, if you are OK with the open-air set up, I have multiple components to make one.

The thing is, I am leaving for a week-long trip tomorrow. Can you wait for me to get back? :D

I can wait a week for sure. And its not that I will go buy a new one and install it because I don't know how to.

I have ordered the RC-5144 from Amazon for $56. Will wait for you to get back before I bother opening up the box. Are you firm on $80? :-)

Haha I just got back a few hours ago. Evenings work best for me. Tuesday or Wednesday?

I need light for under-the-hood work. Do you have a garage?
