I just love winter

and how the roads get salted here in NJ

Too cold to wash the car, temperatures well below freezing, and since I use my Mini as a daily driver this is what it looks like. Hoses were frozen and the local carwash did not have the DIY lanes open.

Just waiting for warmer weather

Pete

Bah it's not too cold to wash your car... I'm out in Hillsborough and I've been cleaning mine twice a week since the salt rush began! I just run a hose from the bathroom out the window and use lukewarm water from the tap. It helps if you get if off as quickly as possible - multiple layers of that stuff are very hard to remove.

I wish I had a photo.

Take your MINI's rear.
Salt it over again by the same amount
And again by the amount now collected
Now salt it one more time all over.

I swear, a parked MINI was that bad. I dont know how salt can go around that much.

I'm trying to keep my boot clean by going once a week to the local hand car wash... 10 bucks and 5 guys cleaning her! I stay nice and warm and they wash, clean the widows & vacuum. After 10 washes the eleventh is free. Hubby just parks the GP for the winter.

Plus 1< I do the same but it is still dirty, 500 plus Miles a week and salty roads make for a very dirty Mini

What's worse in many ways is the stuff on the roads flying around with all that salt. I try very hard not to imagine all that particulate matter scouring my car at highway speeds everyday... but it's there. I'm starting to consider installing some clear bras just to try and reduce my stress!

During the Winter I try and focus more on the inside of the car then the outside, when the weather is like this it is almost useless to try and keep it clean if you drive it daily. if I just stayed focused on the inside and Modding and keeping that clean, that reduces the stress level for me.

Got my JCW washed this weekend for the first time since I picked it up on Halloween. I couldn't believe how great it looked. I brought it to a hand-wash car wash in South Plainfield. They do a great job...basick exterior wash only $8.

I got so much salt on the back, I can't even read the plate number.
Maybe I'll take a picture tomorrow

AHHH!!!!

Warm(er) weather. About 48* degrees today, I can turn on the outside faucet and wash the MINI.

It feels so good

I can see out the windows, and the grey salt crust is gone, at least until the next storm

OK Pete...you really made me feel bad! I went outside and washed all the salt off "Itsy" today, detailed up the tires and all the black plastic edging. But like you said, only good until the next snow or rain. A good rain will activate all that white stuff on the roads and we'll be outside doing the deed again!

man, i didn't think anyone's could look as bad as mine, but you guys do look just as bad. there is a metric **** ton of salt on our roads. i wash it weekly, but it's pointless, really.
