M2C2 Invited to BCC of Western NC Mayfest on 5/6/06
Our club has been invited to participate in Mayfest by the British Car Club of Western NC on 5/6/06 from 10am-4pm. This club welcomes MINIs at all of their events and would love for some of our members to participate.
The event will be located in Asheville at the Jaguar/Land Rover Dealership on hwy 280, just west of I-26. This event will be a gathering of British cars with lots to see, a tech session in the dealer's shop, informal tech session for those wishing to learn more abut caring for their cars, a lunch vender for food on site and a first look at the Jaguar XK (if the dealer can get it in time) and more! The event is free!!!
If you have questions, please contact Carole at fnpcarole@mchsi.com.
I will be leaving the Dragon on 5/6 and driving over for this event. It sounds like a lot of fun and I hope some of you will join me.

I have received a request from Carole Carter, wanting to know how many of our members are thinking about attending this event on 5/6 so they can plan for us. Please post here if you are considering going and I hope a number of you are. I think it will be a lot of fun and an opportunity to hang out with some other British car enthusiasts. I went to a similar event in South Carolina last year and had a really good time.

Ed,
I am also planning on driving over from the Dragon on Saturday morning. Maybe we can meet up and drive over together. BTW, I don't think there is a "show", as in formal judging. It's my understanding it's just a gathering of folks who are into British cars.

George,
Mayfest starts at 10 and I'm guessing that it probably takes about 2 hours to get there from Fotana. So, I would probably want to leave between 8:30 and 9. Hope we can work it out to drive over together.

I just want to remind everyone that this is coming up in less that 2 weeks and encourage as many folks as possible to attend. I was up in Asheville on Friday and saw a billboard for Mayfest. It looks like it will be a big event. It would be cool to show the British Car Club guys how enthusiastic we are about our MINIs
and a great opportunity for a mountain drive!
Hope to see a lot of M2C2'ers at the event.

Wanted to update everyone on how things went at this event. Met some really nice folks in the British Car Club of Western NC, saw some really cool cars and ate some good BBQ! I was disappointed and a little embarrassed that I was the ONLY M2C2 member to show up. It gets discouraging at times planning events and no one from our club participates. I think doing some joint activities with this group would be fun and might cause our club to "expand our horizons" a little bit. I think we could certainly use it. OK, I've vented now.
This club puts on a car show every year at Chimney Rock Park and they have a class for new MINIs. It's the first weekend in October (what better time to be in the mountains?) and is a full weekend event. I plan on participating at this point and hope a few others from our club will also. I'll be posting more information about it as the time gets closer.

Sounds like fun!
Also, don't forget that Eurofest is Oct 20-22 this year!
