Time to bump this up and give some details
We will gather at Century at 10:00 to sign the legal documents, collect routes, get last minute instructions, eat donuts, etc. Participants will leave at staggered times following different routes. The first group will leave at 11:00 on this untimed event (NO RACING!!), to collect data on items observed, and stop at various retail establishments to collect a predetermined item, secret numbers or code words.
Participants should bring the following with them:
Plastic grocery bag to put their 'found' items in
$2 (for a donation)
Something to write with - Pen, pencil, or crayon
Handheld calculator may be helpful
We will meet back at Century (or a resturant) at a predetermined time for the prize award ceremony. Max
at Century has some great 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prises for us.
At the moment I am confined to home with pneumonia
, but will get out and drive the route either tomorrow or next Saturday to give you an idea on the amount of time it will take. I will also pick a resturaunt for us to invade afterwards.
Please
post here this week if you are planning on attending the hunt. Let me know if you plan to join us afterwards for dinner, too.

This sounds like a lot of fun... We (spouse and I) will plan to come unless a major interuption happens.
We will probably come the night before. (George, we need some of your special hotel deals
)
See you then.

Possibly...
If I am not working, I would love to attend this. It's on a Saturday, so there's a good chance I'll have to work. If not, I'll make the drive up to meet with the friends I made when I crashed your monthly meeting in Greenville before.

The hunt is next Saturday. So far only 5 members have said they plan to attend.
I will be going to Century today to give them the headcount (total of 9 people), then going to the different business to tell them how many people to expect. Due to the poor response, I have not contacted a resturaunt to make reservations and get a discount.

Century has the prizes and donuts ordered and Max is ready for us.
Century has requested that we park behind the dealership in the hotel parking lot at the beginning and again at the end of the hunt. Please be sure that you sign the waiver and get your maps and answer sheet prior to starting the hunt. Just in case of rain, you will be able to answer all questions from within your MINI but there will be plenty of time allowed for you to get out and explore the places you will be visiting if the weather cooperates. You will, however, be required to enter several business to get items and information.
It took us about 2 hours to run the course yesterday, but poor hubby had to read the map himself while driving... I forgot that if I attempt to read while riding I get queasy.
So, tomorrow I'll grab a friend to navigate and add final touches to the map while I drive.

I stopped at Krystal during the first trial run of the route... OMG!!! That was the absolute worstest hamburger I ever attempted to eat. I have yet to see a thinner wafer of meat anywhere. The sandwich was nothing but bread, mustard, pickles with a 1/8" slice of boiled meat. Blehhhhh.
Karen, thanks for hosting the Scavenger Hunt.
My son and I had fun. We even had lunch at Krystal with Chris S. and family.
The route was very well laid out with great stops.
Thanks again for all your effort and to Century for all the good stuff.

You're welcome. I am glad that you enjoyed the drive. I tried to make it a fun as well as an informative event.
Thank you to our gracious host Century Mini who had coffee and donuts ready for us when we arrived. They even had a MINI visor and a MINI pin for every attendee.
We almost had a catastrophe at the beginning of the hunt. The wind blew our completed Event Waiver right down into the sewer drain. I could see it, but due to watching too many Buffy The Vampire Slayer shows, there was no way I was going to reach in there to retrieve it. Nuh-uh! Thank you to Mini03Tiger84 who bravely stepped up, ummmm, make that kneeled down, and saved the day for us.
The hunt teams all made it back within the allotted 3-hour timeframe, everyone that is with the exception of George & son. You know how George is... had to hang around and talk and talk and talk with people at every stop. Mini03Tiger84 cut it pretty close on the time too, with only 3 minutes to spare. You should have seen them come skidding up to a sideways stop in front of my desk. I thought for a second that they were going to run me over.
No one got lost (that we know of) and there were no people, animals, or MINI's harmed during the course of this event. Third prize was a MINI key holder, second prize a MINI CD holder and first prize a R50R MINI Robot. After the prizes were awarded, Century Mini surprised us by giving every hunt team a R50R MINI Robot. THANK YOU, MAX & HENK
Now I've got my sights on the April 23 picnic. Let's Motor
