Spring Picnic - April 23 Pilot Mountain

The very first M2C2 Annual Picnic will be held at Pilot Mountain on April 23. This will be a great way to get new members and meet up with the ones we know.

Our Triad Area VP will be organizing a drive before the picnic. So I'd figure we could start the picnic about 12:30 possibly at 1:00 that afternoon . I will be there no later than 11:00 that morning. For those of you who would like to help, feel free to show up. My mom will be coming up with me, so you call get to meet her! So far, this is who I have coming:

1MiniGrl + 1
Moorlockx
Audioman
Twister + 3
Eric'smini + 1
Trainman + 1
Mininc
Tweety's Mom + 1
Kicksnake + 1
Mincop67 + 1
Julie and John Kiracofe
Luv My S + 1
StylishGirl
MINI Jax + 1
Roger and Linda Erwin
George and Gloria (Friend's of Mini Jax)
Goldfinch2 + 1
AmorousAngel
Crystal + 1

Hendrick MINI has graciously donated money to us for this event, so that will be used for the meats, bread, condiments and some drinks. I would suggest bringing some drinks as well, since I'm unsure who likes what.

Here's the link to the web site. Remember, we have the picnic area on the mountain side!

http://www.ils.unc.edu/parkproject/visit/pimo/home.html

Also, prorated memberships will be available for non-members.

Just either PM me or just post to this list if you are planning or are a tentative planner. I will need a definite headcount by April 6. I will be getting some extra food, for any extras that may come in.

For those of you that haven't volunteered to bring something or donate, I'll get with you to see what you would be willing to bring.

Michelle

Hi Michelle,
Thanks for starting the thread.

I'm definately interested. Of course, until a date is set, it's hard to fully commit. We will want to try not to conflict with King's Island trip since a lot of members have already expressed interest in going there.

I am a member of BJ's, so we can work out bulk food purchase trip a day or two before.

The dates that would work would be either March 26 or April 23. They are both on a Saturday.

I believe that these days do not conflict with the Italian Job run or the quarterly meeting. Please, either Kevin or Lee, correct me if I'm wrong.

Vote for your dates and I'll start getting things in gear!

Thanks for putting this together. Either date looks good. Maybe April 23 would be warmer.

If I can help, please let me know. I will keep the calander clear for the Charlotte chapter.

Thanks
George

Michelle,
Are you already pining for the warm weather?

A Pickinic sounds good. Either of those dates sound good to me, as long as there isn't a Phil Wicks school sceduled on those weekends, I'm there.

I don't know if you can reserve some space there, but on the Flow Rally we drove up and the place was packed.
And if you want, maybe we should make it a Pot Luck Picnic, to share the burden of food cost and prep work.

Cheers,

Yup, I was going more for a pot luck picnic and was going to call up the park there at Mount Pilot and reserve an area for our group. I don't think that should be too expensive. I'm thinking possibly $25 or a little more for that, but I could be sadly mistaken!

I need to make sure that we have a grill near us to cook the hamburgers and hot dogs!

I'm thinking that George is right and April may be a little warmer, so let's shoot for April 23!

As for pining for warmer weather, I'm content with the cold, I just wanted to go on and get something started and start getting things reserved. I hate waiting until the last minute to get things together. Mark in Winston has already said he'd help, so I've asked him about a drive that day up to the park! That will be his contribution since planning a drive can take up a lot of time!

If it rains, I'll try to have a May 21 rain day! =) That's the weekend right before Memorial day, but after the Dragon!

As of right now, April 23 is the date unless it rains! Who's with me???

Michelle

Michelle,

This is a GREAT idea. I haven't been to a picnic with games in years. Ah, a Mini family reunion. Count Keith and I in and let me know what I can do for you.

Have a wonderful holiday.

Sounds like fun! But I don't think I will be able to make it. My youngest daughter's birthday is a couple days before that date, so the party will probably be that day.

How perfect would a birthday party be at the top of a mountain?!!

We can play "Pin the tail on the MINI"...
Have a MINI pinata filled with MINI toys and candy...

Come on... we can make it work for you.

Anyway... do what you gotta do, we understand.

Great, I'll start getting a list together of things that would be great fun and tasty treats and let every one know. Then I'll try to get a good headcount and then find someone with a BJs, Sams or Costco membership and work with them in a couple of months about the meat products! =)

Will say this, hamburgers will probably be cooked either medium or well done. Go fig!

So who has yard games????

Chocolate Chip okay???? Trainman loves chocolate chip cookies, and I couldn't bring them at our quarterly meeting!

Besides, everyone loves chocolate, and since they are homemade, they rock even more!

I've been on holiday! WOO HOO, I think. Anyway, there is not such a thing as Diet Chocolate Chip Cookies! Certain things Splenda is good for and it isn't this!

I'll start writing out things and start working on this and let everyone know! Glad people are interested! I'll mark my calendar for April 23!!!

Web Site for Pilot Moutain State Park

Here's a web site for the park I'm going to try and get us reservations at. The area holds up to 35 people. Do you all think that one area will be enough??? It's $60.00 a day for the pavilion for us to use, which isn't too bad and that comes with a grill! WOO HOO!!!! Oh and the bathrooms are near by!

George, Lee or Kevin, whoever reads this first...Could I the banner for M2C2 be brought and hung up so we can be easily found????

Anyway, this is what I found so far! Looks really nice! Lemme know what you all think!
