2019 Mini Cooper S JCW I.O.E. … getting it ready for some Street Touring AutoX … have 3 AutoXs after this weekend as a totally stock Mini to knock the rust off my driving
Nice! How was the LSD install? If you had a shop do it- how many hours? Or if you DIY'd it, any details to share?
Thanks
I haven't installed it yet. The big deal is getting the Getrag in and out...probably 8 hours +/- 1 hour. The LSD is pretty easy...here is Part 1 Video and you will see part 2 video
It definitely won't be cheap but it will make a world of difference when it comes to traction and laying down the power.
So this week 1) In goes the Wavetrac LSD with new bearings and fluid 2) On goes the Bilstein B14/16 Coilvers 3) Install a Powerflex Engine Mount Bushing … al to go along with the NM Engineering 17x7.5 wheels with 225/45/17" Bridgestone RE71Rs. This combo should make a HUGE DIFFERENCE AutoXing in the STH Class.

Its going to be a completely different car! What are you doing for front camber? Do the bilsteins come with plates?
So all the above things including The WaveTrac / Bilstein B14 PSS Coil Overs/ NM Power Module are in...Totally DIFFerent Mini. It is so crazy how much better the traction is...taking off and cornering. The NM Module set on Premium Fuel (not set on Race Fuel) is so quick, I'm glad I spent under $400 instead of the DINAN which is at $900. These three Mods alone are worth every penny spent and some...
If you dont mind sharing how much did the LSD install set you back? How many shop hours?
It took a few days but only about 8 hours … one big hint about installing the new bearings on the Wavetrac ) Heat the bearing in an oven to make the metal expand just a bit and they slide right on!!! Once you have the Getrag Manual Out and pull the cover off...it is pretty easy to remove the factory Open Diff...pull off the Ring Gear...Install the ring gear with ARP Bolts to the new Wavetrac and install the Wavetrac into the empty space. I ordered 3 Bottles of Motul 300 75w90 gear lube. They are 1 liter and I used 2 bottles and a bit of the third bottle. Make sure when you drop the tranny you support the engine so it does not drop down too much. Also a great time to install a PowerFlex Yellow Black (Race) engine bushing. The Wavetrac was just under $1200 shipped if my memory serves me right. A LIFT is essential to make this transfer IMO...the time, which isn't listed, is basically the same for replacing a Clutch...
