I was wondering when a thread on this would show up...........

Several of us from the KC area are coming.

How many cars are you realistically expecting?

I made my reservations at the Holiday Inn back in July, right after the MTTW in Chicago/Road America.

Even though it is early, does anybody from the Chicago/Milwaukee/Indiana area want to caravan out there.

I just started volunteering with the MMEMW committee (and they've been working on this looooog time, I new!) So I don't have numbers yet, the next planning meeting is 3/21 and I'll get the scoop then... and start posting up.

Winona and that part of the upper Mississippi bluff country is beautiful! I haven't driven it yet, but there is a state road (MN hiway 60) just a bit north of Winona, that locally is referred to by some as the "Minnesota Dragon". All the car clubs around here drive it... the SotaMinis club is going to drive it in May... not sure if it is on the docket for the tour or rally, but there are lot of awesome twisties in SE MN and SW WI (Wiscony is just east across the river, from Winona MN)... I did a drive last fall in SW Wisconsin, just east of Winona, 165 miles of rural farm country twisties, by 100 miles into it, I was getting almost dizzy and tired... and feeling like, what??? more turns??? sigh... heavenly!

Cheers! Tiina

Hey everyone!
only a few more days before the $35.00 late fee kicks in. We are behind in the number from 2004. Let's make this one of the biggest events this year. We have tons of great stuff planned!!

My wife and I live in La Crosse (just south of Winona) and plan to head up for it. There are roads around here that are very fun. Plenty of twisty roads. Not sure where the tour will go but just grab a map or your GPS and drive. This is about 45-60 minutes from Winona.

Sorry it's not a MINI video.

$95 is cheap compared to some previous year's MIni Meets. This include the Banquet, a lunch the day of the concourse, a welcome reception, and don't forget the Birthday Bash with a Live band!! It for 3 full days of fun! It will be a blast!!

I'd love to go but $95 is a way to expensive for me. That's $95 I could use to fix my Mini...

I'm a geocacher too! I'm sure there's some neat ones down that way. I am also planning on coming down for a day - can't make the whole event, sadly.

Hey Geocaching Mini/MINI owners!
Yes, I will be there and I'll be caching. I've been busy getting ready for MINI United so I haven't had time to plan an event (or even check the boards regularly). Let's plan on something informal (no smiley, but still fun) and I'll run a query of local caches so we can all find something. No time for an event pathtag, but I know I'll bring some of mine.

Bruce

If you are making plans, what day are you thinking about caching? My SO has to work but is thinking about leaving early one day so we can drive down.

Just got back from England (had a fantastic time)... Looks like a lot is already on the plate for each day of the event. Not being from the area I don't have any clue as to where we might want to meet. I'm going to suggest Tuesday at noon in the lobby of the Riverport Inn for TB trading and discovery... (subject to change) those interested in learning about geocaching are welcome to join us. That way we can get together for about an hour in the middle of the Show & Shine and still make it back in time for the Panorama Picture. It looks like to coords for the front of the hotel are: N 44° 01.871 W 091° 37.275 but I could be off a little. Again this is subject to change once we all arrive...

I really wish I could make it to this event. I got my degree at WSU (Winona State Univ) and spent enough time on the local roads to know there's a lot of great MINI driving potential through those bluffs, etc. Oh well, enjoy and PLEASE post some pics later (and hopefully some vids too!) so I can live vicariously!

Now that I'm here and looking at the program (lunch being provided at the field) I'd like to change the meeting location (so we don't have go back to the hotel). Any interested in chatting about geocaching or even checking out some local caches (I've already found the two near the hotel). I'm guessing there will be an information tent or command center. Let's meet there still at noon. I do have a Mini/MINI specific travel bug I would love to pass on to someone. I'll be the one with the stuffed monkey in the red shirt. Leave a note on car #38 (Tahiti blue with TB on the boot).
