R56 MCS mileage, going up, up and up

I'm one of those people that figures out their mileage all the time and here's how things have broken down so far:

-29.2 (mixed driving)

-29.5 (mixed driving and exhaust installed)

-31.9 (mixed driving, but with a little extra on the freeway)

One thing I noticed when I figured out my mileage this past Sunday was the computer said 32.0 mpg and using the calculator it was 31.9 mpg, amazing because I never trusted this in other cars I've owned. I even go as far to adding in the tenth of mile and dividing the exact amount of gas I pumped in to the tee (NO, I don't have a pocket protector ) What have you guys with some miles on yours gotten on freeway trips? I feel the car will get better than the 36 mpg on the freeway and I'll find out in a couple weeks when I go to Grand Rapids for this car meet (non-MINI cars)

On my first tank, in mostly heavy traffic, I got 25.66 MPG. And I am not a light foot.

Do you feel the engine breaking-in has something to do with this?? Perhaps the ECU is adapting better to your driving needs.

I got 28.5 of my first 200 miles from the dealership, but I don't know how full the tank was. On my next 350 got 32.5, mixed driving. I'm happy with that.
EDIT: Just filled up for the 2nd time. Getting 29.5, not 32.5 like the obc says. It's a bit off at this point. My avg. speed is only 35mph, so I'm not surprised at all. I thought 32.5 would be unlikely, and it is.

My fuel economy is very similar to Klasse's. Increasing slightly as time goes on for the same type of driving.

Amazing, people are averaging 30ish mpg in spirited mixed driving; it's like having your cake and eating it too! My car currently gets 18-19, can't wait to ditch it for the R56!!!

I like the fuel efficiency of the R56 a lot! When I first began to look at the MINI Cooper S almost 4 years ago, I accepted the lower fuel efficiency as a trade off for the performance.

My current daily driver is a 2000 Saturn SL1. It gets 28 to 30 mpg with mixed driving and 40 mpg highway. I'm blown away that the R56 Cooper S gets as good gas mileage as my trusty Saturn and will get to 60 mph in half the time! :D

32.5, mostly going over a 1700' mountain commuting to work, driving with traffic (boring), with 850 miles on the car. This is my max mpg, I'd been in the 31's until this week.

Only x 3??? Bah... I was expecting a lot more fun than that. Especially since the Saturn has a fun factor of 1.
