First drive to work in the new car...

So I picked up my new car last night after a month long wait and my wife had her family over for dinner so I really didn't have time to do any driving before coming home. This morning was my first real chance for some time behind the wheel, except in the garage last night programming the pre-sets

So this morning, do I jump on I-95 for my usual slog in bumper to bumper traffic? No, I head to the beach and drove A1A the 22 miles to work. With the sunroof open, it was beautiful. The cold front that is slamming the NE right now left us with a perfect 60 degree morning with light wind out of the west setting up waves with that perfect long slow curl, that we don't get a chance to see very often. The drive was so perfect, when I got to the office, I didn't stop, and kept on going. I hated coming to work today.

What a fun car. I've been driving an automatic for the last 10 years so the switch to the MCS is really dramatic for me. I really love the 6-speed! I can't believe the response when you step on the gas. What I really like is the fact that the turbo is so smooth. No noticable lag at all. The car actually feels bigger than my last car. The driving position is more upright, the seat is up higher, and the visibility is much better than my last car. Overall, I could not be happier.

I'll post pic's when I get a chance, but my first mini is spec'd as follows:

'07 R56 MCS
Sparkling Silver/White
Black Lounge Leather
Anthrocite Headliner
Wood Dash
Wood Shift **** (dealer through that in without me asking!)
Cream Color Line (Sets off the wood nicely)
Premium Package

Sounds like a great drive. How about some photos? I'm particularly interested to see what the shift **** looks like.

My first drive to work will be from the dealership home. I work at home.

That sounds like a great drive. Are you in Miami? The weather has been perfect today so I could imagine how nice it must've been to be riding your new MINI this morning - too bad you had to work

Congratulations! Hope you enjoy many miles of happy motoring

Me too - picked up last night, driving it to work today. What a thrill.

My spec is not that unusual - Laser Blue/W, sport pkg. Here's a photo from the dealership right after it was delivered to them:

Congratulations, and have fun driving home!!!

Congrats!
Makes you start thinking of places far away. Not so far that it requires an airline ticket, but close.
