R56 PROUD new owner, worth the wait!
PROUD new owner, worth the wait!
I ordered my car on 2/22/07, it was built on 3/14/07, it arrived at the dealership on 4/11/07 and I picked it up on Thursday, April 12th at 7:00 p.m.
The entire process went VERY smoothly
I'd like to say first of all that I'm having a problem with clubphoto and this is why I don't have any pics of my car and it sucks too because I took pics at the dealership when I picked it up as well as MANY pics from last weekends dyno meet that Ryan set up for us, sorry guys
I'd like to pass along a couple observations first of all. First up are the tires and I don't know if its me but I don't find anything wrong with them at all and they aren't going to be taken off and given to Discount Tire for $200.00 because to me, the ride quality isn't enough of an issue to make me swap out perfectly good tires. Now I'm sure non-runflats ride better and when I get to the point when its time for replacements I will get non-runflats but for now, I'll enjoy the tires on the car. Next up is the handling...WHAT A BLAST TO DRIVE THIS CAR!!! Like others here, I find myself taking the long way home, taking my kids where ever they need to go, taking their friends home, etc, when is the last time you could say that about a car you've owned?! Then there's the gas mileage...WOW! Sure its only a 1.6L and you should expect good gas mileage but consider this, the Honda Fit with 70 less hp gets about the same mileage on the freeway and weighs about 300 lbs less, amazing! Then there's the fit and finish of the car, top notch for sure.
In the four full days I've owned the car its been washed THREE times and been treated to a Griots clay barring, one coat of Klasse All in One, one coat of Klasse Sealant Glaze and then today, after washing it again because of my window tint job, I applied a coat of Pinnacle "Signature Series" caranuba to it to give another layer of protection and some added depth. Speaking of depth, the car looks like an emerald with ivory topping, a real "gem" IMO
Please don't take this as bragging but I couldn't be any happier with my car....wait, yes I can, check out my list of mods so far and what IS coming down the pike:
1. First thing I did was when I walked into the dealership I went over to my car, unscrewed the "RC antenna" and added my Helix "stubby" antenna.
2. Once I got the car home I pulled it into the garage and added my yellow Nokya fogbulbs to it. I'm one of these people that will only use the fogs when its raining, snowing or foggy out too. BTW these fogbulbs really mix in with the output of the HIDs, its really amazing how that worked itself out
3. Today I had 35% window tint put onto the car, looks great!
Now for the near future mods:
1. A 2.5" stainless steel exhaust, no resonater, polished stainless steel Magnaflow muffler with a polished stainless steel squared-oval tip from Pypes. A high-flow cat may be added too but only if it DOESN'T make the car throw a code.
2. I ordered the 17" PIAA Sport Mesh wheels in diamond black finish but they are on back order, so I wait:impatient
Once I get the above two mods done to the car I'll be basically done for the year. I have a great wife and I want to keep it that way
but by next spring though, I will have the car lowered FOR SURE!
I'm VERY happy to be "officially" apart of the Mini cult
...LET'S MOTOR!

Weeeeeeee! Congrats! I picked my Mini up the day after you did. I've put quite a few miles on him already. I look forward to getting up and going to work in the morning because of the drive!
I can already tell that this little car will be a big hobby of mine, what with the detailing and modding and road trips... Bring it on!
Cheers!

awesome! congrats on the car.
I've got the same Nokya yellow bulbs. love them.
I'd love to seem some shots of the PIAA Sport Mesh wheel when you get it.
I'm thinking of getting them for my pepper white with the diamond black finish too.

Congrats Klasse Act! Your car was very good looking in person, the BRG/W looks smashing on the R56! Just remember that like all R56's, you need to lower it ASAP! Good luck on the custom exhaust, anything is better than the silent stock exhaust, yuk.
Happy Motoring and Detailing,
Ryan

Thank you everyone and I'm truely sorry about not being able to post the pics right now. I'm a firm believer in posting pics of everything so those who are wondering about things can see how they look, i.e. the chrome lined exterior on the R56 for instance because I still don't see alot of people with this on their car and it just looks so "complete"
As far as the clubphoto goes, well, I had a problem a couple weeks back so hopefully they're getting everything straightened out:impatient
BTW, I don't see the smile EVER coming off of my face
