Per normal today, it wasn't raining and the sun was out so I decided to take the top down off the car this morning for my commute (was about 39F, relatively warm). I pulled onto the road and got stuck behind a school bus with flashing red lights. A cop pulled up behind me, and suddenly his bull horn turns on. The cop tells me from his car:

"You are a brave individual for driving in a convertible today."

I just busted out laughing and gave the cop a thumbs up! This must be the funniest comment from a stranger I've had so far about the MINI with its top down! When I bought this car, I had no idea how many comments from strangers I would get!!

hahaha thats fantastic. Good to know some cops around here have a sense of humor! i'm a central nj-er also and i swear (just like everywhere) you only hear from the ones who are trouble....

 

What that cop pulls you over in X months he'll probably be like, "Why was the top up today sir?"

For going topless in 39 degree weather, I think you earned some recognition.

 

At least I gave a cop a good laugh! Seriously, after all the bad news the cops get in central jersey, it's good to be reassured that most cops are friendly!!

Hmm... I wonder if the cops can enforce the MINI top-down 90/10 rule?
