JCW Stage ONE Availablity & Pricing

Since MINI's announcement of this JCW package at Geneva there has been a notable silence on availabilty and installed pricing. Anyone heard when we can have it installed on R56 MCS???

I was wondering the same thing? That's also covered by the mini warranty right?

I stopped by the dealership the other night to get my registration card...
they said that dealerships will NOT be able to install the Works "kit" on R56s...
JWC is a factory only option!

"In an effort to possibly bridge the gap between the upcoming high-output JCW MINI (coming for in late 2007 or early 2008) it looks like MINI will release a “Stage One” JCW kit that will have an output somewhere between 190 and 200bhp. Our sources are also telling us that the “Stage One” kit will be available as a dealer retrofit for all R56 MCS’s and will consist of three components:

Revised air intake
Less restrictive exhaust
Revised ECU Software"

This is a direct quote from Motoringfile which clearly states that it will be "a retrofit from the dealer."

The Stage I kit sounds like something I'd be interested in, any guess as to how much, more or less than $2K

That goes along with everything I've read. Stage I will be a dealer retrofit, Stage II will be factory only. I wonder if down the line they'll offer stage one from the factory too; this would be significantly cheaper than the dealer retrofit (same thing that happend with the JCW on the R53). Otherwise there might not be a huge difference between the price of the factory installed stage two, and the the dealer installed stage one, although the stage II, with the body kit and everything else, may be exorbitantly priced. We'll see.

Unfortunately you were told that by someone who was simply speculating. MINI USA hasn't set a price or a release date yet (internally or officially). FYI - The JCW aero kit is not part of the dealer retro-fit JCW kit. The JCW aero kit can be installed at the VPC or the dealer. The "MINI" aero-kit has the ability come as a factory option. However it's the single worst looking thing MINI or BMW has ever produced.

My dealer told me today that the Stage One JCW kit may be offered in late summer or even later.
