the short answer is no. If your doing it yourslef, you might want to invest in a bently manual so you can see what is required from a technical standpoint, but no other mods are required to your car.

there is a "tool" for 150 to 250 to hold the camshaft as you remove or install the bolt!! However there are a number of ways to MAKE the tools for a buck or two..

Just me.................................

Check the clearance between the cam lobes and the spark plug tubes - they will probably need to be clearanced. All it takes is a small 'dent' of about 1/32" to clear the tubes.

good luck!

IT's surprisingly easy...

to do the swap. You don't need the special cam lock tool, and the only other issue is the chain tensioner. Mine was a total biatch to break loose.

I agree. Did mine without the "special" BMW approved tools. The tensioner took a heroic effort to break loose. Also make sure you remember the sequence you too the tensioner parts off and the head bolts that secure the passenger side of the head to the timing housing. If you get it backwards, you'll need to start over. Trust me.....I know

I am swapping back to the stock cam this weekend, we'll see how she goes. I dont think the tool would be too necessary either...

I am about 60% done one mine, I made the cam tool out of wood, an aluminum ruler and 2 nuts/bolts. It took about 2 hours to this point.

One thing I noticed when I was about to turn the crank to get those holes in the cam sprocket, was that the crank pulley bolt had backed out and was sitting loose!! Gotta love those lightweight crank pulleys The stocker is going back on tomorrow.
