Displaying song info from MP3 CDs

I got my R56 today. Tried playing some MP3 CDs and they seem to work fine and even recognize the different folders on the CD but instead of displaying the song title from the embedded ID3 tag/meta data, it is displaying the file name with the extension ".mp3". Tried buring MP3 CDs a few different ways (Ahead Nero, iTunes, etc.) but still all it is displaying is the file name.

Does anyone know of a way to display the actual song name instead of the file name?

This may or may not be useful but when you see the .mp3 files, are they in a vertical list that you can scroll up and down with the top navigation **** (not the volume)? If so then press the button under the word "Track" and it will display the id3 tags, but only for the particular song being played. I've also had problems with it recognizing weird bit rates for the first mp3 cd I burned. I tried the standard 128k and 192k bit rates and it seemed to be working better. Hope that was the problem. If not then keeping posting and someone here will be able to help.

There's a "list" button to hit to get the scrolling list, then there's a "track" button and you see the ID3 info. Unfortunately it doesn't ever default to this, you have to drill down to it when you start/stop the player.

When I export from iTunes it puts the song name as the file name, so it shows up on the display, and you can scroll through the titles.

What I would like to do is group the songs into album folders, but I don't know how to get iTunes to do that, and I don't know if the Mini knows how to deal with folders. Does anybody know?

I'd like to be able to scroll through a list of folders, and then pick the album I want to listen to - like a CD changer. Right now I'm getting one big fat CD with a hundred songs on it!

I've got my answer - in the play list you just have to hit the heading button for Album - it sorts the song list by album, and if you burn your mp3 disc from there it puts the songs in folders, numbered, with the album name. Perfect.

And if you burn the cd as mp3 or data cd using any othe software than itunes, the cd player does read and display actual folder names which is quite handy.

So, now all I need to do is ensure my file names are descriptive and I'll be all set with the display issue.

I'm using an iTunes burned mp3 cd now, and iTunes also numbers and names the folders after the albums, and puts them alphabet order. In the car the album names come up, and you can scroll through them with the ****. iTunes also allows you to burn albums by artist, so you would have a set of nested folders - first set with artist names, inside folders of albums by that artist. I did not use that option, but handy if you like to be organized.
