I am about to have the black trim around the base and wheel wells painted body color on my S. I was wanting to remove the parts myself and take them to the painter but there seems to be some tricky techniques involved in the process. My question is has anyone removed these pieces and if so how and is there a shop how to sheet on this subject?

seems to me all the "spats" are bolted on all around the body. I haven't tried removing them tho

I've heard that alot of prep work and primer is needed when you paint the arches, 'cuz their rough texture needs to be smoothed down.

I know that they are bolted on ,but they used those snap bolts and so there must be a pattern or order to the removal

I had to replace a wheel well molding (driver front) after soem one backed into me. I can not see an easy way to remove the molding with out breaking the clips or the molding.

Removing those things are a pain, stupid snap bolts always get lost... either be insanely careful, or have the paint shop do it.

I would like to have this done as well. Maybe some of you that have done it could share what it cost to have a body shop do the entire job. . .

I would like to do it but not if it is more expensive than it is worth.

Thew paint shop I talked with said they'd do it for around $600 if I took off and installed the pieces myself

I have been thinking about having my trim painted as well. Does anyone have any pictures of cars with the trim painted to match the body color??

When my silk green was hit by that tree chipper he ripped off one of the pieces over the wheel. I'll post a pic tonight of it. You can see the bolts.
