MCSa Not shifting smoothly....

Recently, my 2005 MCS with the automatic transmission has been having trouble starting up. It hasn't been driven much in the past couple of weeks due to inclement weather. Well, yesterday, it wouldn't start at all. Just clicking and flickering xenons. So, I jumped it without a problem. After I let it run for a while, I noticed that the transmission went into what I believe "Emergency Programing." It said "EP" where it displays the current gear next to the odo. I also noticed that it was unusually jerky while shifting. It just wasn't smooth. I would compare it to dumping the clutch while still at a high RPM. (If that makes any sense.) After a few errands, it did go away.

Just another thing to add, the windows do not always go back up the fraction of an inch that they go down when opening and closing the doors. Its kind of annoying because I can hear the wind whistling if I don't hit the window up switch. I don't have to do this every time.

So far, thats all that I've noticed strange. Thanks for the help.

When not driven these batteries are very prone to getting weaker and even going dead (I've had the very same issue on the bimmers). I don't have any idea if that is related to the transmission issues, but it does seem like a likely culprit for the window thing.

Here is what I copied from the manual for you to reset them:

"To initialize power windows

If the battery is disconnected, e.g. for
changing batteries or vehicle storage,
reinitialize the power windows. Otherwise
the windows will not be lowered when the
door is opened.<
1. Close the doors
2. Close both windows
3. Hold both switches of the power windows
up for approx. one second."

Just a thought, perhaps the jump was the cause of the codes - did you hook it up to the connectors under the bonnet or the battery directly? I've never jumped it so I have nothing to compare; I use a recharger that plugs into the wall and hooks to the battery.

I used the terminal under the bonnet.

I'll do the window thing and see what happens.
