I gave up waiting on the factory. I ordered the aux input cd changer adapter from rspeed. It works perfectly, even with the HK system

...but it attaches to the cd changer connection already in the boot, right? Then you need to run a line (actually a pair of rca connectors...) from the boot to the dash (or cup holder) - or am I missing something?

Picking up my MCS tomorrow and looking for the easiest way to add a portable MP3 player (like the new iPod) to play through the standard '03 stereo (since Mini obviously isn't very serious about putting out the aux port connector themselves).

Any help here? I've read the mini2 forums, and the aux port mod gadget is talking about would require you to open up the center console and pull out the head unit, right?

Well, which is easier? Spend $80 and run a line from the boot to the front, or disassemble the console and pull out the head unit (and does it work with the DVD Nav?).

Hope someone can help...thanks so much!

I did read that - thanks. What I'm looking for is 1) confirmation that I can use that with the DVD Nav as well, and 2) other solutions that might be even easier (without pulling the head unit out). For instance, does anyone make a FM modulator to attach to the iPod or any dedicated MP3 player that is shock resistant and portable? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Go to Apple's website and look at the Ipod accessories. They sell an FM Modulator, but a direct connection would sound better.

You can get a pretty good FM modulator from Griffin Technology called the iTrip, I've seen one that belonged to a friend and it actually works very well. You can select almost any FM band to play through as opposed to some others that only give you 2 or 3 options. The sound is quite good and it works even from about 20 ft from the radio.

That being said, I just made my own aux cable for my iPod ala the MINI2 threads, and it's working great! It was easy once I figured out what was going on. Taking apart the center console was a scary thought for me, but once it was done it was easy, and everything is back together tight now. I don't have Nav, so I con't comment on how the iPod mod affects that. Otherwise, I'd say it's a no-brainer too do rather than wait for MINI to release their own adaptor.

this auxiliary audio input accessory can be used to wire satellite radio through the boot, right? is it just like the Blitzsafe adaptor?
