CVT modding (posted dyno results 12/25)

ey guys

i have a 2002 MC CVT, and i'm torn between all the mods that i can possibly do to with my Mini without jeopardizing the longevity of the tranny itself

so i guess my question is...what mods will get me the most whp & torque without screwing up the CVT?

i currently have the SuperSprint muffler & straight pipe w/ resonator and a CAI. future mods are Megan Racing Headers & MTH tuning file

I have an '02 cvt, and though these transmissions weren't made for high performance, I have maybe 20 more horsepower than stock and 67,000 miles with no cvt problems. I keep my trans fluid changed often, which is probably why it lasts- better to slip than break is my attitude. Some people have broken their cvt's, but it at least has one protective design feature- it doesn't just slam into the upshift like a normal automatic trans, but this makes ratio changes slow. The cure has been to get a chip/program that lets the engine rev higher at full throttle, allowing more time under accelleration before the next slow upshift. -Jeffy.

The Unichip in my early '03 CVT has worked well for me, and complements the CAI and catback perfectly. It's not an S by any means, but it's not "just a Cooper", either.

how much is it to get that chip/program for the CVT? would it be better as far as performance and longevity?

just had my MC dynoed a while ago...

conditions were: 94.28 degrees F, humidity 9% (but humidity outside is around 60% i think)
current mods are: SuperSprint straight pipe (no resonator), SuperSpring muffler, HKS SPF filter
NOTE: i'm running on 15s

max power: 106.53 (99.42 stock)
max torque: 97.93 (91.69 stock)

my run awhile ago & stock run were done on the same dyno

the tuner figures i have about 127hp on the crank. planning to get headers & a remap soon

btw, the CVT has a limit of 160hp...wheel or crank?
