Is this JCW?

I hope this is going in the right sub-forum. I am in the ever so lengthy search for a Mini and have quickly come the realization that I am going to have to buy out of state to find the slightly used Mini with specs I want. I don't need the ~$6,000 JCW engine upgrade but if it had it; heck, I would take it. There is a listing for a MCS with the upgrade, but I am having a hard time seeing it. I figure it would be plain as day and maybe it is. I just dont know what I am looking for. If you guys could let me know what I should be looking at and if this does indeed have the pricey JCW engine modiftication that would be excellent. Here is a photo. Thanks for your help.

At the very least, it has the JCW air intake box.

It has the JCW intake but doesn't look like the kit of course the owner could have switched the IC cover but that is doubtful.

Looks like an airbox only. In addition to the silver SC cover, if it had the full kit it would also have a numbered JCW badge on the valve cover. It don't. Keep looking.

probably this is a sound kit. the full kit is numbered. this one does not have the head... I only see the airbox

this is my kit # and it is visible once you open the hood

you also have to check the exhaust tips and the badges. any dealer will tell you if it was a sound kit or a tuning kit. There is also suspension kit. all you have to check for to get the correct pricing and how much this one is worth. Good Luck

Sound kits have only been available for coopers not S's. At least they have never advertised a sound kit for an s. JCW has only marketed the Sound kit for the coopers as far as i can recall. Also, you guys have to know that for a short period of time MINIUSA was not including the silver intercooler cover on the works kits. It went away for about 2 months or so... then all the dealers complained and they brought it back. So there might actually be a few works kits out there without the silver intercooler cover, but all will have the badge on the valve cover.

Ask for documentation. I'm not sure if the individual pieces have "authenticity" documents or if just the kits do. If they can't provide the docs, I'd say its not a kit, and they've just upgraded the intake.
