JCW ECU software?

I'm in the midst of getting a 15% pulley, new spark plugs (cooler, ones ) and then, I think, the JCW ECU software.

Here's the scoop. Having the local MINI shop (MINI WORKS) install the pulley. They recommend the 'cooler' plugs. I think I read something about that being a good option.

They also recommend the JCW ECU software. Normally the dealership would charge about $125 to do this. But because of a snafu on a recent service visit, they're going to do it free.

I've heard that the JCW software without JCW parts is just OK to things like - it reduces hp by 10???

I have NO CLUE. MINI WORKS says it is more of a 'safety net' in terms of it correctly 'managing' the new hardware. Being a computer guy by trade, I totally get that. But, not being a MINI mechanic I don't know whether or not the JCW ECU is a plus or a minus! Help!

Thanks!

Btw I'm having the pulley installed today or Friday. The software will not go in until Monday. I guess if I don't like the difference I can have it re-flashed?

Did I say 'HELP'?

Hey,

Victor installed my pully too. I was very happy with his work and honest recomendations. He talked me out of some Modifications that he could have easily sold me. I personally decided to hold off on the software. Let me know if you decide to get it how it works for you.

See you on the road!

Mike

CAUTION: A/F mapping in the JCW ECU is designed for the larger injectors (and maybe a few other changes you haven't made). You may want to PM Dr. Obnxs before deciding to do this!

DOH! The MINI dealership informed me that there is no JCW software for the auto tranny yet. More like DUH! I even knew that! Can't help but follow the 'pros' when they tell you something. Unfortunately, I was the first pulley in a auto that the mechanic did!
