brakes & sensors 02 MCS

Hey guys i have some questions, I just call my mini dealer to check pricing on new pads and sensors for my 02 MCS, the guy toll me that it has just one sensor on the back, and i read on several threads that actually minis have two sensors; one in the front and on in the back.. who's right? remember i have a 2002 MCS.
Also the price on the pads are kindda expensive 111.00 / 91.44 (front / back).. i am sure there are some chip good quality pads out there.. any recommendation?

Thanks in advance
MaC

2 Sensors

ONE L/F AND ONE R/R-most any parts store will have pads for less than theprice you were quoted-but-you have to get the sensors from MINI. also, you can find better pads at lots of the vendors here on nam, including us. how many miles are on your car? it could need rotors as well.

2002 no sensors

If I am not mistaken 2002 models didn't have the sensors intalled. They came later 2003 and up.

All '02 cars do not have sensors, cars around May '03 have two sensors. One in right front and one in left rear. I recommend Hawk pads over stock replacements. You will get a whole lot less dust, and better braking due to better compound for only a few dollars more.

ditto

my 02 S has no sensors - they came later

I went with EBC Greens - once broken in - dust is a small fraction of what is was b4.

ok i did my brakes by myself yesterday, it was so much fun , it was kindda easy... but just one question... now with the new brakes, i have almost to push the pedal all the way in to make a stop , why would this happen? it wasn't that way before.

was this the first time? you will need to pump the pedal up a few times to seat everything. then there is a small "brake" in for the pads. if it is still bad then i would recommend bleeding the lines. did you get any fluid out when you did it? if so you have to bleed them. also if your fluid is more than two years old, i would bleed them. give me a call if you need more help.
