Shoulder Surgery (no shifting)

I am having shoulder surgery on the 16th and will be out of shifting action for 10 days to 2 weeks.
My wife has offered to let me sit in the passenger seat to cheer me up. It is going to be a tough two weeks......I'll probably spend a lot of my recovery time in the garage, sitting in Silver Bean and making shifting noises.

I am in the UK this week, this is the first time we've been apart, so this is like a warm up for my time off starting next week.

You could have your wife drive and you could shift with your left hand. Think of it as practice for your next trip to the UK.

Thanks everyone.
The original injury was martial arts related, since then I've had a couple of add-on injuries and I guess the wear and tear has caught up with me. I'm really looking forward to it, hoping surgery will eliminate most of the pain.

I drive in the UK and in Australia. It's funny, but when you get used to a car everything flows really well and you don't even think about which hand you're shifting with. Staying on the correct side of the road is another issue!

I appreciate it, it's the price I pay for old age and not working out enough. It will be a relief to have it done; I'll be back to shifting in no time.

I am right there with you. I never thought I would feel old but the last two months my lower back has been giving me trouble making me finally feel my age.

Hope the surgery goes well as driving a stick shift is the only thing that keeps me going in traffic. Too easy to fall asleep otherwise.

You need to buy a Classic that is RHD.

I have the hard choice in the morning on deciding on which car to drive. Instead of asking me which side of the bed I got up on, people are going to start asking me which side of the car I drove in this morning.

Mine will be similar, the only major concern is the bone removal. I'm worried that will take a bit longer than the tendon and rotator repair.

I have seriously considered it. If I run across a deal, it could certainly happen!
