I'm getting married the weekend after MOTD So I'll probably have to hold off for MOTD '08...

But I'll be thinking about all of you...

Met up with SB and some other Rocket City MINI folks Monday and they recommended early planning. What are the 07 dates and what are some good hotels?

Thx

OK, I'll attempt to answer my own question... the first weekend in May 07 (Sat/Sun) is the 5th/6th. This, I'm assuming, would be the weekend of MotD 07. Now when does it usually "kick-off"? I.e. do y'all usually drive up on Thursday and leave Monday?
As for hotels... Fontana Village looks nice, anyone been in the Willows (1 Bdrm) "Cabin"?

Thx

Yes it is the 1st weekend in May. From what I hear Fontana Village is already booked up so you need to get on the waiting list ASAP. There are other area hotels in Robbinsville & Tapoca but Fontana is the center of everything

It starts on Thursday May 3rd 2006 with the Welcome Dinner (Hosted by the Sunshine Minis, had to get a shameless plug in for my peeps ) and ends on Sunday May 6th.

Many of us like to get up there a day or two earlier when possible.

Places to stay

Fonatana Village
Topoco Lodge
Microtel in Robbinsville
Blue Water Mountain Lodge
Phillips Motel in Robbinsville
Blue Boar Inn is in Robbinsville on Lake Santeetlah
Snowbird Mountain Lodge at 45 mins. from Fontana

You can also check out the Tail of the Dragon Website
I alway find cool cabins to rent on VRBO - go to NC then Robbinsville

Remember that the lodging situation at Fontana changes constantly, so even if they are reported to be full, call anyway, and get on the waitlist, if need be. When they fill up, they open up the timeshare units.

OK,

We're first timers and interested in going to the 2007 event.

Where do we go to find out what all goes on for the two days?

What are the costs?

Can we bring out Westie? :impatient

Coming out of Winter Springs Fl, is there a caravan originating out of Florida?

ok

I just called and they had a room available at the Lodge at Fontana so I booked it for May 3rd, 4th & 5th. $79.20 per night. Let's hope this is the correct dates as they have a cancellation charge of $50.00.

Hey ZigZagN, there is a caravan up from Florida. You can go to Sunshine Minis and as the time gets closer details will be posted.

You click here and find out info. about last years dragon. Mark the owner of this wonderfull website will be posted a event calender in the next couple of months. The key thing for now would be to secure your lodging. Then you'll have plenty of time to figure out what you want to with your time each day

As long as they didn't give you my room... Sweet! I'm still trying to get over the idea that I just made reservations almost 8 months in advance :impatient
