Exactly one year ago today...

... I rescued Swifty from the torture of commuting on L.A.'s gigantic parking lot known as a freeway system.

It was also the first time I heard of North American Motoring. A lurker known as CinnaMini turned me on to this site. When she told me I would have fun chatting with other Miniacs on the web, I thought NO WAY would you catch me doing that geeky sort of thing.

Now look at me, 18,960 miles later. I normally drove about 14,000 miles a year. Going to take photos of sunsets couldn't have put that many more miles on... could it? Oh yeah: Carlsbad Tour, AMVIV, New Years at the Pavilions, Mini Meet West (shouldn't count because I live 5.4 miles away, but did 2 tours), and yesterday tagging along with MTTS Sin City folks. And then taking the back roads just because. Still, over 5000 more miles????

This has been so much fun!
Okay, I'll add

And here I am, after having lunch in Huntington Beach. CinnaMini 2 behind "us."

So you're no longer a rookie, huh?

Don't get caught up in numbers, just enjoy the ride

Happy Birthday Swifty!

Thanks for pointing NAM out to him CinnaMini.

Happy Anniversary! You know, the next time we talk about the relatively great mileage our MINIs get, we should try hard not to remember how many more miles we drive because...duh! It's a MINI!

gosh !

gosh Kurt I don't know what to say! I'm so glad you're enjoying Swifty as much or more than I did. Yes I am proud to say that I am a power lurker (work reasons) here on NAM, having been here since late 2002 when I ordered my 2003 in December from Long Beach MINI. In your photo, though, I need to correct you...we are about to have lunch and it was in Manhattan Beach, a beachy town nonetheless. I bought cinnamini2, a MSCa, a year ago and I have to say that it is a great commuter car yet I still have the fun factor that comes with Minis. I've got around 13,500 on my Mini now.

Those beach towns all look the same. Yea, my belly isn't stuffed yet, should've remembered. Thanks for checking in!

Folks, the only reason she surrendered Swifty was because of the clutch in rush hour. So glad she did!

Kurt, glad you bought Swifty. The Carlsbad run was a hoot.
How many tequilas did we sample?
