help! brake install!

which direction do the slots on the rotors go?

On my left front wheel, should the slot point

forward from hub to edge of rotor \

or back from hub to edge of rotor / ???? (i STARTED THIS WAY)

thanks, Imawaiting your reply

Question #2:

on the brass caliper bushings, you don't lube the outside of the brass bushing , just the steel pin that goes inside the bushing, right?

Question#3

I can't find the write up to install steel brakes lines and new brake fluid, can someone direct me? And I was planning on doing that last, is that right?

Sitting in the driveway, scratching my head thanks

I don't think the outer groove direction really matters that much

it's the vents in the center that do. But I don't remember which way...

For the caliper bushings, you are correct,, just lube the pins.

No biggy on the lines. But put the resivoir cap on, and work quick so that you don't get air into the system from the top.

Changing the fluid is just a real long bleed process, just make sure that you don't let air in the top, or it will be a pain to get out.

Matt

Thanks for the links Drew...I thought I had everything bookmarked before I started, but I didn't, and then I was finding them quickly enuf thru search...

Well I knew if you kept scratching your head too long you might have begun to pull out hair. Glad the how-tos helped, I had to improvise when I did my pad swap b/c MINI made some alterations to the setup, but the seemed like a goo guide and referance point.

The vents inside the rotors should be oriented so that they pull air from the inside(hub) of the rotor to the outside. There was one thread where we discussed the orientation of the slots on the rotor and I suppose we just determined that the orientation of the slots on the rotor makes no difference at all.

Won't matter. Either way is fine. The rotors are non directional anyhow.
