Dead thing in my air ducts

HELP! I have a dead thing in my air ducts. A week or two ago I noticed a strange smell coming from the air conditioner. I thought at first it might be a stinky carbon cabin filter so I went to Flow Mini got a new one and replaced it. Still Stinks. So I've tried many over the counter cover ups. Still Stinks. I scheduled an air duct cleansing with Flow but I was informed after waiting an hour at the dealership that the machine was broken, and they had no idea when it would be fixed. I suspect it is dead mouse because when I changed the cabin filter seeds fell out on the floor board and upon closer inspection I found mouse 'doots'. I've tried everything to get the stinker out of there. Does anyone know how to access the blower or fan assembly. I remember several months ago when it was cold the fan started shaking the dash and making a horrible noise. Off and On a few times and it pretty much stopped. I suspect that was my little friend getting the ax in the blowers blades. I suppose it will eventually stop stinking but it is 85 degrees today and I need my A/C. Any help provided will be greatly appreciated.

Similar situation years ago... Removed vents.... 3/4" hose taped into shopvac hose...serious roto rooting. Not sure what dampers you might hurt on a MIni though..

Good Luck!

Thank you for starting this thread, I have recently noticed (I usually just drive with the windows down) a smell coming from my air ducts also. In the morning I am checking the filter. If anyone has any other tips or ideas please help.

found part of the problem

An update...I found that if you remove the cabin air filter and (this is almost impossible if you happen to be of the bigger variety) lay on your back looking up into the cabin filter air box the interior of the fan is accessable. I know because I...gulp...found the critters head . I have no idea where the rest of it is. I suppose it is on the other side of the fan where ever the air inlet from the outside is ? I hope this makes sense; it is late and I'm tired. Thanks for the replys.

Dude.

This is the funniest thread I have read in a long, long, long time.

I almost fell out of my chair I was laughing so hard.

Hope you find the rest of the carcass.

Resurrecting this old thread, because I fear I have the same situation!!
At first I htought I was just getting ambient smells, as the top was down, but soon it became apparent that the hot air coursing through the system was really cooking whatever unfortunate beastie got itself in there!

My problem is I can't get the cover unclipped! Try as I might with my fingers, and also tried prying it with a bottle opener, but not enough room to leverage...

Now that is for changing of hte filter, which I know I need to do...as for the other problem...

TIM...
You went in through the outside vents below the windsheild???

Ugh...I do not relish the idea of doing this - but I relish even less the idea of that thing going through further decomposition.

(My cats usally do a pretty good job of dispatcghing the critters in our garage - I guess they're getting lazy! I have to reduce their Meow Mix rations...)

Thanks...
