I had two BMW's previously, and just got an A3 2.0, but wouldn't consider it and the 325I to be in the same ballpark. The A3 is a smallish but very utilitarian wagonlet with sporting pretensions, the 325 is an entry level sports sedan. I like both cars, but think you need to focus your needs more before choosing.

Drove both cars and bought an A3.

Actually we did not compare an A3 with 325, but since we were there so we tesed the 325 as well. We were comparing A3 with X3. My wife hates SUV so we went with A3.

- A3 $4K cheaper
- A3 has more torque
- 325i is understeer
- A3 more room
- 325i does not have much power from 60-80mph (unless you redline it)
- A3 is faster from 0-60
- A3 has better MPG

If you want 4 doors go with BMW, but If you want hatch go with A3.

...oh and the A3 comes like this from germany.

Are you kidding modding my wife car. I could not even find the key for the A3. She hide it some where. After I moded her 350Z and she was complaining all the time about the rough ride and people trying to race with her....by the way Neuspeed Chip will be the first to go on (because she won't see it )

Which 325i you talked about. A3 2.0T is a FWD and 325i is RWD

Although not here (yet ), you really should be comparing the A3 to BMW's 130. Now you're looking at similar body types and pricing (and number of doors).
