Bonnet w/Scoop

I dearly love my '02 MINI, but I also like the look of the "S" bonnet with the scoop. Would it be possible to install an "S" bonnet on a MINI. If so where would be the best places to locate one. Thanks!

you mean install a Cooper S hood with the hood scoop on a standard cooper?

yes, you can, its pretty much a direct swap i believe.... but that hoodscoop'd be pretty useless!

might be a fun project though if you have any knowledge of rubber to run a rubber tube to your intake

A friend of mine did it on his black MINI Cooper, and it looks awesome!

It's a direct fit, but costs a lot of $$$.

The Cooper hood has a flat look, while the Cooper S hood is more round and includes a nice hood scoop...

It seems that one could engineer a pretty nice ram intake for an MC with an S scoop.

Any thoughts?

Reminds me that someone on Cardomain (Noseycooper) is claiming his 2005 MCS has a 'ram intake' because of the vent/louver at the base of the drivers side of the windshield. Ha!

But I'm sure an MC could benefit from the fresh air, even if RAM intake-like conduits were not run. Whole engine compartment would be kept cooler.

Not if he's creative...connect that intake to the airbox for "rammed air" system

Yes, I would be installing a Cooper "S" hood on a Cooper. Initially, I was thinking of the switch being cosmetic, but some of the responses indicated it might be possible to make it functional too.

DarkMiniCooperS - do you have a ball park figure for the cost and a hint as to where the "S" hood came from (Mine's also black)?

Thanks to all!

There are some used parts networks that will give you a quote over the net too.

That's funny, I think of the Cooper bonnet as being more nicely rounded and proportioned, while the S bonnet is flatter and sharper as a result of incorporating the scoop! Everyone's aesthetic sense is different.

Maybe this is kinda OT but, could one run a hose from that cosmetic 2inch driverside of the scoop to the air box and get a ram air result?
