MINIless for the next 5 weeks

This is going to be hard. I will be without my MINI (or any other wheels for that matter) for the next 5 weeks. I am going to COT (Commisioned Officer Training) for the next 5 weeks. I am a critical care RN and I decided to join the USAF Nurse Corp. I recieved my commision in Nov. (I'm a Lieutenant) and now I just have to go to Alabama (COT) to learn how to salute, march, wear the uniform, etc. No Motoring.

I think I will most likely be without internet access, so there will be no leaning on my fellow NAMers for support.

I leave on monday. Wish me luck.

good luck, you should buy a little mini cooper model and play with it next to your bed ... I don't think I could survive without my mini. I didn't drive it for one day and am already missing it. Kinda wish I bought the mini in to school rather than the X3 :p

What part of Alabama are you going to for training? If you are near Birmingham & will get a weekend day off I will come whisk you off to lunch in my Mini one day

That is tough...but it could be worse, right? I had to do w/o my MINI for about 6 weeks in the Fall of '04 because it had been wrecked (front passenger side corner) AND I had to drive a vastly inferior rental the whole time. I even semi-forgot how it felt to drive my MINI!! Scary, I know!!!

The upside is that you'll be reunited w/ your MINI soon and will likely fall in love w/ it all over again. You know what they say about absence.

That's only about an hour South from where I live (I am actually about 20 miles S of B'ham). Let me know if you will have a free weekend day during your stay & I will come down & take you to lunch one day in my Mini. Who knows maybe I can get a few in our local group to come with me & we can have a mini Mini parade down in Montgomery

PM me & I will give you my contact info if you think you will get any time off.

If you are going to Montgomery, you won't find Keesler. You are probably headed to Maxwell Air Force Base. Best of luck. Thanks for your service from an old Retired Army guy

I was without my Mini for 4 weeks after it was involved with a deer.

During the time I motored in different rental cars ranging from VW Passat up to a Chrysler 300. What a nice change to leave from a "boat" to the Mini.

Your absense from Mini will allow you to appreciate the reunion. It will feel so nice to get behind the wheel again!

Good Luck and thanks for your service.

Fred

Oops. Somehow I knew that didn't sound right. Maxwell it is.

bamatt, you may hear from me. I'll have to wait to see what my weekends will look like.
