am i cracking up??
i have an 04 Mini....when i open the door the window goes down like 1/2" and goes back up when i shut the door
.... is that right?

It immediately goes backup when you close the door

I'm guessing you're a new owner. Yes, it is supposed to do that. It needs to go down so the window glass clears the top of the door jamb, goes back up as soon as the door is closed. At least that's the way it's supposed to work.

That cool feature is called "indexing" windows. It creates a tighter seal to keep out whistling wind and road noise and rain when driving.

A great feature on these cars. Did you notice that in the mini the window is not attached to the door frame at the top like most cars? So the window goes up to create the seal to keep out rain and such. It caught me off guard at first too, but now I think its really cool.

Actually this problem should go away with the first ice storm.
