Installed xM direct now considering next mods

My Christmas present to myself besides a 06 Hyperblue Cooper Works Coupe, was a xM direct receiver with Blitzsafe adapter. I had it installed by a good local shop(could have done it myself as others have) for $60.00. It works like a champ except the head unit still says Sirius on start-up, oh well. Got free activation and a $50 rebate. The antenna sits right behind the radio antenna with the wire running through the rubber boot on the inside lip of the hatch. Looks great and reception is perfect. Unit plugs into the cables intended for the CD changer in the right rear quarter panel area. Now on to the next upgrade. I have ordered from Mike the Parrot ck3000 EVO Bluetooth unit with the new wiring harness so I can use the Multi-Function Steering wheel buttons on the 06 coupe. After that, I'll see if the iPod remains connected via the dealer installed Aux plug or I wait for the rumored soon to be released new iPod solution from Mini. My 04 MCS had the factory nav unit but opted not to reorder because by current standards, the factory nav unit is terrible. I may consider installing my current Garmin 340c which is great in the space below the center console above cup holders or now that I have xM, do one of the soon to be released Garmin units that incorporates xM traffic updates. I picked up a car in Germany last year that incorporated the traffic updates into the Nav system and it spoiled me. Their system really works. BTW, the new Cooper Works from the factory is awesome. Thanks to all on the boards for helping me sort out the xM and bluetooth options.

Wow, at $60 for the install, you got a great deal!

The unit does say Sirius at first because it more or less mimics the Sirius module so the head Unit works.

Just did the next mod, auto up on windows

I received the MCAW control unit, plugged it in and programmed it. Now with one short up the drivers window goes all the way up and with one short and one long, both windows go up. Having fun adding to my Mini!

Trying to find the CD connector

I just purchased the same bitzsafe/XM radio combo and I can't find the connector in the right rear quarter area to connect the blitzsafe SM converter. Can you offer any suggestions? I'm just not sure what I'm looking for so anything you can offer would be great.

Thanks,
Timzmini

It is there, if you have the H/K system it is right under the amp. If not, it is still there but should be more visible. They tend to wrap the conector with tape so it is not always easy to see, sometimes it is just a bulge int eh wire untill unwrapped.

If you install the XM direct and you already have the aux input, will the xm direct cancel the aux input out? I would like to have the xm direct and keep the aux input for my mp3 player.

XM Direct Plug adaptor

Hey I've searched the boards and it appears the XM Direct installation is "easy" but I've got the same challenge I had with my BMW Z4. the wires on the car have female plug ends and so does the blitzsafe adapter... The mini is an '06.. just a few days old

any help on why this is the case? on the Z4 blitzsafe suggested bypassing the amp which wasnt a great solution.

Thanks!
Michael

Are you sure you have the right Blitzsafe adaptor? The CD changer harness is supposed to have female connectors. It then plugs directly into the Blitzsafe adaptor box. Depending on the model, there might be a few cables coming out of the Blitzsafe with female ends which is for the cd changer pass through. If you don't have a changer or iPod adaptor, they should be left alone.

Blitzsafe adaptor

the blitzsafe is model SLD01 says BMW/Mini on the face of it - I dont have the IPOD adapter or CD Changer in my car... I got that adapter for my Z4 (2nd attempt by Marc at blitzsafe to get this right) and when it arrived the instructions were for mini.... so i figured well I'm going to get a mini I'll just use this here... well opened it up and same thing! all female plugs on this car to!! I'm beginning to wonder if someone's trying to tell me something

I'm not sure what the adaptor is for, but if you check this thread, there is a pic of the correct one:
