Help with Cat Spray!!!! Stinky!

How to get rid of that terrible smell?

The details:
It is not my cat, it is wild and lives in one of the barns near me. I do not feed it, or nuture it in anyway, it always stays at least 100ft away. My garage is really a smaller barn, and the cat decided it liked to poop in one corner of the garage late this fall for some reason (never before). There was a small gap under the garage door it could get under (it is a small barn), like 2-2.5" I cannot believe it was getting under. Then it sprayed somewhere in the garage, smells bad. So I fixed the door tighter so it cannot get in, but I am left with this smell.

Problems: Do not know where it sprayed, we have 2+ feet of snow, it is generally about 15-25 degrees f daily, garage has no power (lights or otherwise), and I store the MINI in it for the winter and am afraid this smell will permanently stay with my car. Heck it may have sprayed the car! I dunno.

I am open to any suggestions, even if I have to leave my car in the snow (gulp!), Please help.

Go to a pet supply store.

There are lots of liquids that take the smell away, but you'll have to find out where the cat sprayed. It'll suck, but if you let fresh air in, you'll be able to find it pretty easy with your nose.

Good luck!

There is a product called "Nature's Miracle" that works well, but like the Dr. already said, you have got to find the spot and saturate it...........

Nature's Miracle is now sold under another name but it is the exact same stuff. Any larger pet store will have it and will know what you mean if you ask for it by the old name, but you will have to find the spray site. It does work great though!

There is also this stuff called "Ozium" - I think PepBoys sells it, but it's a hospital grade air freshener stuff - it's safe on some surfaces, but not all. You might want to give it a shot too -- it uses a glycol based deodorizer to kill smells.

I haven't tried this, but I've heard that a black light can help you find where the cat sprayed. Good luck!

Nature's Miracle is good stuff.

The black light should help you find the spot. OR

You could borrow someone's dog, and bring them into your garage. I bet the dog will go straight to the spot the cat sprayed and point it out for you. Then you just have to hose it down with the N.M.

One problem...Anyone know if Natures Miracle or something simple like bleach works in sub-freezing temperatures?

So far I have just moved the car out, and found a couple of suspicious items to throw out. It is dark and 12 degrees, and snowing right now.

Don't use bleach. Use something specifically formulated for the purpose. It works. I know. I have a bottle of Nature's Miracle in my hand right now. it doesn't say anything about freezing temperatures being a problem.

do you have a space heater or something you can set out there to keep the area slightly above freezing so the nature's miracle can at least soak in?

just don't step on the wet spot if it freezes
