I HAVE THAT COMBO WITH H&R SPRINGS-rears rub slightly on big dips, i doubt it would be a problem with stock springs, rub is not enough to ever leave a mark on the tires

i run that combo with eibach springs... minor rubbing when the car's loaded but otherwise runs perfectly fine...

rrdusek,

17" rims with +42mm offset and 215/45-17 tires will work with stock suspension and NOT rub.

Once you lower your MINI then you are at risk of rubbing but it depends on which tire you have, it's size/side wall height, your camber and how much drop you have.

PSS9 and other coilovers allow for some adjustment of ride height so you can make it not rub.

Don't go wider if the 215/45-17 will suit your needs. 225/45-17 sounds nice but the outer tire diameter is a larger than stock 25" which when combined with lowering springs will result in rubbing not to mention the tire itself is wider than stock.

I had 17 x 7.5 SSR Comps w/ 42mm offset and 215-45-17 S-03s on stock suspension. I had some rubbing in the rear even without passengers (only at large dips in the road) but eliminated it with adjustable control arms and a little neg camber.

offset only matters depending on the width of the wheels.

I have 17"x7" ARE Chrome Coils 42 mm and 215/45-17 F1 GS-D3 with stock suspension and no rubbing in 2 weeks.

Tonight I installed my front PSS9's, will do the back tomorrow night but I'll have to set the height as it is way too low
