What width tire are you guys with 18's running

I was just wondering what width tire you guys (Smooth is Quik and onefastpunk and anyone else) that have 18 inch wheels are running? 205, 215, 225's? Also what is your wheel offset? I've got my new wheels on order and I'm trying to decide on a tire. I'm getting 17" Rota's, but I'm trying to fiqure out how much room there is in the wheel well.

Width

Steve, Both Fastpunk and myself are running 215's, I believe my wheel offset is 42mm, not sure about Todds. I do rub a tiny bit in the rear only under harsh cornering. Keep in mind I have lowered the car too.

widths

Thanks, Mark

I think I'm going to go order my tires tonight. My wheels should be here Monday. I'm going to go for the 225/40-17's. They're not as tall as the ones I've got on now, but 3/4" wider. My car isn't lowered, so hopefully I'll be ok.

They're on

I got them installed on Monday night and drove them around Monday and Tuesday. No rubbing! It was close on the inside of the front tires, but I had about a half inch of clearance.

Very nice. What happened to the all chrome concept?

Hey Agro,
After I saw Todd's wheels I changed my mind about all chrome. I'm still looking at other chrome bits here and there on the exterior, though. First I have to do something about the brakes and rotors you can now see because these wheels are so open. You can see rust on the hub and edge of the rotor through the wheels. Also, I'm trying do decide whether to paint the calipers red or silver.

I am still going to have the S-lites either chromed or powder coated shiny silver. Does anyone know who powder coated Todd's wheels black? I've emailed a couple of powder coating companies in town, but they don't respond. Maybe one set of wheels it too small of a job for them.

Email me and I'll email you his number.

Thanks, glassintrepid,
I ended up going with 225/40/17's. They are a tight fit, but so far in driving them around they don't rub. They are Nitto 555's, which I believe is the only tire that size that is available in the US.

225/40-17 are larger for outer tire diameter than stock MINI tires.
Tire diameter is 25.1" and they fit rims that are from 7.5" to 9" wide.

For that size tire see:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compar...=All&x=19&y=10
or
http://edgeracing.com/tires/2254018/

Lots of good tires to choose from.

Generally most MINI owners choose 215/35-18.
205/40-18 and 225/35-18 are possible and close to the stock MINI tire outer diameter.

215/40-18 and 225/40-18 are a bit larger tires than stock and with a lowered MINI might lead to some rubbing.

Actually, I think you are talking about 225/45-17. My 225/40-17's are 24.06 (according to the Nitto spec sheet) and are slightly smaller diameter than the 205/45-17's they replaced at 24.26.

Tire Sizes

Pirelli 215 35 18 Neros with the OZ Superleggera. Those things are feather light. Good bang for the buck compared to the stockers.

Hey Man...

The place that did my S-Lites in black was the Shine Shop in Henderson 702.566.1299. They're pretty stand-up cats who had NO problems re-doing one of the rims because of heat-cracking six months after we did them the first time. The price was right also...$300 bucks to strip them down and re-finish them.

Mark and I are running the EXACT same tires and suspension (H Sport springs) but I'm running on a 7 inch wide rim with a 38 offset and have NO rubbing issues at all.

Thanks, Todd,
I'll give them a call and see if they do something that looks like chrome.

If you do decide to have them chrome your stock wheels, I'd like to throw a scoop grille onto your order if it's ok. I have a spare one that would look good chromed I think.

Agro,

Sure, you could put the grille in with my wheels. It may be awhile, though, as I seem to have gone through most of my "excess" funds at the moment.
