just posting up to let everyone know that d&r has set up a dedicated mini team for technicians. i'm one of the curretnly 3 techs on that team. we've also got our own service writer, so any mini customer won't have to worry about trying to explain their mini concerns to a bmw service writer. rob (our mini service writer and mini owner) will be happy to help anyone out if they have any questions.
Is D&R applying the fix for the MCSa 'Service Engine Soon' light issue? I brought my car in soon after the light came on (May) and was told to wait until a fix was issued. I haven't gotten anything in the mail about it, but have seen people online mentioning that they've had the fix applied. I tried calling, but my voicemail didn't get returned.

I've got a couple things that need looking at, so I'll be calling soon. :-)
Glad to see D&R has decided to go with MINI "specialists". Since they lost what I feel was the best MINI tech around some time ago I haven't been real eager to take mine in for anything. Now maybe I will get the rest of the warranty work done.
I am betting the service writer is Rob Morelli. He is a MINICCI member a really nice guy. Another good move by D&R to use a MINI owner for that position.
Just my $.02

To answer some of the other questions, no, Doug is not on our mini team, though we do still farm out seom work to the other BMW teams if we get overwhelmed. Rob Morelli is our service writer, and is doing a great job in our, and in our customer's eyes too from the reports we are getting. Rob was picked for that position because he was a mini owner, and they felt that would help him relate to the customers better. As for myself, i volunterred for the position on the team. If anyone needs to make a appointment for any service, just call the main number (317) 573-0200 and let them know your calling for mini service and they'll get you to Rob (or another writer if Rob is busy, but you'll talk to Rob before and service is done).
I'll be glad to try and answer any questions while i'm around here, though i'm currently a Beetle owner, so i spend a lot of time on some the volkswagen boards. If a back beetle with a euro plate that says "Bubonic" passes and ways at your mini, it's jsut me saying "HI".
Yeah, what MINI_CAR said. :-) I had my '05 MCS (CR/B; not sure who worked on it) in yesterday to have the cold start stumble addressed (ha!), and a couple of rattles taken care of. He was friendly, professional, and thorough, and I've got high praise entire service team. They fixed several rattles, and as an aside replaced the entire exhaust system from the catalytic converter on back! I was very pleased with them, but the cold start stumble is still there, as is the loading up/near-stumble between 2.5k and 3.5k RPM. The loading-up issue does seem slightly better, as does performance with the A/C on, and overall the car seems smoother (but that could be because the exhaust system had a bad weld in it from the day I picked it up, so it's quieter than I've ever known it to be).
I also talked to my MA, Rhonda, yesterday and she was similarly thrilled to have a dedicated MINI service team. Thanks guys!
