A couple of times I came out to my car and noticed the Sunroof and windows cracked... I found this odd... then I started paying attention, if I hit the unlock button twice they would crack every once and a while. Well recently I noticed that when I open the door the window will not close all the way... has this happened to anyone else?

Lol.... go outside right now. Press the button to unlock your car. Make sure both doors are unlocked... and then press and hold the unlock button again... hold it down for a while... and watch what happens!!

Come back and report it here!

Thank you so much for pointing out the obvious.

That is not what is happening. I press the button twice to unlock all doors, when this occurs the windows drop about 2 inches and sun roof opens but does not slide back (i.e. the auto open/pop-up). It does it on the second push... and no I am not holding down the button.

That does not explain why the window does not close when the door is closed (the 1/2 inch it opens when the door opens).

If anyone has something constructive to add, it is appreciated.

Cardiac... sorry for upsetting you. From your message, I thought you might have not known about the funtion that opens the windows and sunroof when you hold down the unlock button, and that this was what was happeneing. Please bear with me... I have a high fever today and am not thinking clearly. Thought I was helping out in a fun way.

Hope you solve your problem!!

I have had the same problem too, but my windows (no sunroof) would go down about half way and stop. Not even holding the button, but press it twice to unlock and down the windows go halfway.. Very odd but I'm not really bothered by it, because it only happened a few times.

An answer as to why it happens is a real puzzle to me...

I find the comfort opening feature needs the button on the remote held down firmly.

Your windows may need to be reset. With the car running, or key in the on position, second click, open the windows with the toggles. Then close the windows and hold the toggles up for 10 seconds after they are fully closed.

Indexing

In order for the windows to index (drop when you open the door, and raise when you close them) they must be all the way up to begin with.

Somehow, when you press your unlock button, something inside the key is hanging up and sending an extended signal--long enough for the convenience opening to begin functioning briefly.

So, your windows move down just a bit (causing you to think they have indexed down, when in reality they have been comfort-opened) and the sunroof pops slightly.

Since the windows are actually rolled down a little bit, now indexing function won't work, since the windows must be rolled completely up for that feature.

So, you open and close the door, and the window stays just where it is.

My suspicion is that your key is somehow sticking and sending an extended signal during the button press.

Try the backup key for a while and see if it operates the same.

Yesterday I left my sunroof popped while I was inside at work, and a typhoon-like rainstorm snuck up. The rain was coming down in torrents, and blowing almost horizontal--in exactly the right (wrong) direction to blast straight into my popped up sunroof. It was as if a garden hose was pouring into my roof.

I'd want to get to the bottom of this issue if I were you.

Hmmm, I will try that. I also have the auto up chip in... but windows not closing all the way is a new thing... too new to be the chip I think.

Yeah here in houston it has been raining liek crazy AND too hot to have the windows down...I will watch the unlock thing, but I don't think that is an issue. I will also change keys....This happens only on unlock never on lock...sofar.

One thing solved.....I noticed that if I have the door open for a while (ignition off) the window will not index back up when closed.
